Very open sound.  Excellent guitar and bass recording.  I am most familiar with the Cyndi Lauper rendition.

I just love the acoustic guitar, did you play that?  How did you mic that?  Or is it a midi thing?

The bass too, is that you playing the bass.

This is very nice.

I would add some backing vocals, some oohs and some ahhs.  You did a great job.  Love it! Much

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for listening and posting a comment.
The guitar is recorded with both the piezzo and an old dynamic microphone( AKG D3600 to be clear)
The bass is recorded though a little EDEN box.
All the best.

Hello Lasse,
Thanks for feed-back,I will begin to think I´ve been lucky on this shot with the bass and guitar Recording

Hi fjz,
Thanks to you,so I will confess a little trick: in fact the guitar also went through the Eden preamp and it seems to do something like enhancing transients.

Hello Dan,
Thanks for listening.
Being aware of the quality of your productions if you say it is well recorded and well mixed,I stop thinking and go ahead

Herb,
thank you for listening and giving a feed-back.
All the best.

Olivier.

Olivier,

Hesitated to listen as this song is one I have never liked:)    That said, I like your version quite a bit.  The performance and mix are really good.   Really like the minimalist arrangement and acoustic feel.   Something about the French accent really makes this pop as well.   Great post.

Hey, this is a well mixed and thoughtfully presented piece! I agree the French accent and cadence make it a good listen.

If Johnny Cash was Jacques Cash and for some reason covered '80's hits. Awesome!

I liked how you ended it especially, just one of many good choices here!

Hello Mark,
Glad you made the step ahead.....
I have a special relation with this song, though I could not say why, maybe it is because I know Miles Davis played it or maybe because as a french man the way I get the words is talking to me..
Anyway ,thank you for listening and mentionning my french accent which helps me to admit that sometime our weakness can be an advantage.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for listening and give an insight..
Hey, I don't know why your post is labeled as helpful...
If it is someone else it is OK but if it is me it is an uncontroled motion... In no way I would say that your post is not helpful but it should not be in the curve..
But...I like this idea of a Jacques Cash singing hits of the 80's ....😎
The ending is quite often used here with minor VI then the fifth wich comes back to the fundamental.
All the best.
Olivier.

Very nice arrangement.  I like covers that do their own thing rather than just copying the original and this certainly fits the bill.  I really like the guitar sound - how did you blend it? Is it mostly from the mic?  It certainly doesn't have the harshness you usually hear with a piezzo.

Hi Olivier,

I am a fan of your style and I've listened to everything you have done so far. I don't normally listen to covers much but I gave this one a go and I wasn't disappointed.

Hi Arlen,
Thanks for listening and for your feed-back. I've been lucky on the recording ,but this song is so well written that it leaded me towards something simple.
Cheers.

Hi John,
I'm very glad you took time to listen to this tune and to post a positive comment.
Cheers

Hello Makke,
Thanks for giving time to listen and comment in a positive way.
Cheers.

Hello Ewan,
Thanks a lot.I think my voice was not exactly tuned if I meant to do a perfect copy of the original😎.
I blended the miked track and the piezzo more or less half and half but I tried to smooth the piezzo with some impulses and took care to align both tracks in time and in phase.
Cheers.

Hello Andy,
You desserve more than one thank because you actually always support me.
Cheers

All the best to all of you.
Olivier.
