Mesh James, I know you have already got your "new" UAD system, but if anyone else is looking to get a UAD1e + 8 plugins (all crossgradeable to UAD2 free of charge), please PM me.
Mesh, I saw your PM but can't reply because my post count is too low. Can you contact me at the email at subdog.com as I had some questions...

Couldn't agree more - on all counts! Buy yourself the Ferber sleep book (and rid yourself of any ideas of Ferberizing that are based on Modern Family!)

Well I just hope that she (we just found out it's a girl) has a better voice than I do. I'm cursed with tone deafness for my own voice. I actually got told I didn't have to sing the birthday song at the restaurant I used to work at ,lol. I've heard it had something to do with my dyslixia. Apparetnly I don't hear my own voice well. Probably why I have a bit of a lisp. Funny, that I'm a CPA and in to music, lol

Yes and know, I've also been been trying to save for a ranch, an oh yeah I'm cheap. That and I still haven't made a dime out of music. So the ROI isn't to great right now, lol

Got the card installed last night. After a bit of confusion as to where the VSTs ended up so I could scan them, I got it all working. First thing I wanted to test was the Echoplex model. As I mentioned before, I'm a huge fan and I have a great EP3 sitting on my desk in front of me. The best emu I've found so far is the IK version in their custom shop. I was unimpressed with the UAD version; I just couldn't get it to sound like the real deal I'm used to and it didn't respond to the controls like I'm used to. I even wondered if I was missing some secret switch somewhere. I will hit the docs, but probably no need to dive deep as the IK is a great version. Tried the the EMT 140 plate. This is very cool. I have the Lexicon LXP so I'm not sure I can justify getting just this plate reverb, but it is on my list and I will probably pick it up on a sale. Next was the Dimension D. Let's just say I bought this immediately! :) I forgot how great these units are, and the UAD version is wicked good. I'm really happy with this purchase. I'm going to compare the analog classics stuff that comes on the card to the waves plugs I have here in a bit on a project I'm working on. Per the advice of many, I think my native stuff will keep up just fine with the UAD. I'm glad I got a solo card (and glad I got a UAD card period), but I think I will focus on a few plugins that UAD has unique to them and not try to duplicate the native stuff I have - as even a small incremental improvement probably doesn't justify the cost and effort. It's fun to finally be in the UAD club!

Congrats and welcome to the club, James! I share your opinions of the plugs you've tried so far ... the EMT 140 is one of those for which I've found no native equivalent that sounds so good. And olpal is right about the Ocean Way, although it's a resource hog. Certainly worth a try, anyway. By thoroughly demoing each plug over time, you'll find the ones which you click with and can't live without. Then each June and December, when the big sales happen, you can take advantage of the best prices. Have fun! Cheers, Eddie

Hey ol'pal - looks like you need to use that Ocean Way on every track when using for re-micing. Is this true? A solo card will do 2 instances, so I don't think I'll be getting this one soon!

I've been thinking a lot about how I could get me one of these, I do have some old kit to sell, a Yamaha FS1R, and EMU something or other. The FS1R actually is on ebay for $950 or something, that would be most of the way towards an Octo!
