Time for a new car/truck stereo...

Unless something changes I am going to go with a Pioneer X6500BT. I now have an old but good Pioneer Premier DEH P310, it has served well but it is time for bluetooth. I went by BestBuy today and turned on the BT on my iP5, it found a BUNCH of devices but it connected to the 6500 from about 10 ft away. I walked over to it and it played Spotify radio and albums with no problem, diplayed all the album and track info too... I am not thrilled with the Mixtrax function but I can turn it off. All things considered I think it will do just what I want. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-X6500BT If you know car stereo take a look and see if you think I am making a mistake or maybe you have a recommendation?
 

Probably going to go with Crutchfield, they include all the wiring I will need and tech support. 129 bucks... yeah!

    so you have an older HOOPTIE with no steering wheel audio controls?
     
    Also a single DIN opening?
     
    I installed a Pioneer into my 2002 Silverado , had AM/Fm/single CD/aux input and input for an HD adapter(which never really worked)It had a subwoofer output that I added a sub to.Also had the remote.which was a PITA to use. Trying to use just the radio you had a joystick function to the main kob which really was a PITA.
    BUT it sounded wonderful, plenty of power, lots of EQ settings, and a pretty hot FM tuner.
    I say pull the trigger.

    Yeah no steering wheel thingy but I can buy one for this head for under 50 bucks. I fill the reat of the opening with another piece, it has a slot that holds a jewel case. I think I could fit an appradio 2 or 3 in the place but I don't think I need it.. but yeah I think it is a two DIN opening, just more than I need. An old can only learn so many new tricks if you know what I mean...

    yup got it , well Crutchfield © can sell you the filler plate kit and all that. The steering wheel controls are nice BUT pulling the wheel and snaking the wires is a chore, PLUS the air bag you got to be careful of, (UNLESS you have a 56 Nash Rambler)
    Now if you wanna go big dawg, get the unit with the big LCD even motorizes, it will fit that big DIN hole you got..

    Yeah MM, I was looking at the Pioneer Appradio 2 or 3 but I just really don't need all that. I am unlikely to get a steering wheel gadget. I'll just mount and use the remote (a little velcro and done). Figuring out how to run the mic wire under the trim and out so I can clip it to my visor is plenty enough trouble for me.
     
    Yes Craig, most trucks these days are Car/Trucks. I'll get something slightly used, last years model in the next few years. I'm driving a 2004 F-150, king cab 4.6 V-8 now. Gas mileage is stupetacular, but it is comfy enough. The older I get the more attention I have to pay to the seats... if I want to be able to walk after a long drive, lol.
     
    My grand daughters will love this stereo with the virtual DJ to mix your playlist and the changing colors. It will annoy me but like I said.. I can turn that part off.

    I'd go for this and add the Sirius.
     
    One of the best truck stereo sounds I ever had was with Alpine. Also had Pioneer units.
    I know it's a pretty good price diff.
