Time/Pitch Stretch 2
I'm looking in the Sonar X1 Power book on page 309. It examines a plug-in named Time/Pitch Stretch 2. I cannot find this plug-in. Anybody know what's up? Thx.

I don't see that pluging in my system either. If I don't have it because its an old DX plugin thats not very good or because there is something better that sonar has that you can now use like Audio Snap or Process> length and the Cakewalk Pitch Shifter plugin. Don't worry about it you'll learn the other stuff thats better. I do remember seeing it a while back on one of the older Sonar of versions.

Go to the help menu in Sonar by hitting F1 and look up "included plugins" and the ones that say are 32 bit only won't work in 64 bit sonar. Go by that list

You should find it by right clicking the clip -> Process Effects -> Audio Effects -> Cakewalk (you have to work from a selected audio clip to have access to this plug) I think in previous versions you could find this plug under the top Process menu. If you are going to process a long clip, this will take some time. However it works great, just slow. Tip: I first copy a small section that represents the music onto a blank "throw away" track. (Sometimes I just clone it and then split/bounce to clips) Experiment with that small section to apply this effect to the clip to hear the final results before you apply those settings to your "keeper" track/clip. Saves time experimenting with different settings. FWIW

I still don't see this plugin and I'm not seeing it listed with Sonar under Included plug-ins in the help menu.

Wave I still don't see this plugin and I'm not seeing it listed with Sonar under Included plug-ins in the help menu. It's not a plugin that you can insert into the Effects Bin, so you won't see it listed under VST or DX effects. It's only a process effect that can be applied to an audio clip, changing it permanently.

Yes, it is there on my system, but it does not show up in the Help file! Follow closely the screen shot by "musicroom". You have to right-click on the BOTTOM half of the clip. You can verify it's existance by going to the top menu and clicking Utilities - Cakewalk Plugin Manager - DirectX Audio Effects. If you don't see it there, it's not there. if they aren't already, try installing X1 32 bit or an older Sonar version that had it. It does seem odd that this is the only way to get it. I'd like to see it in the Browser. Steve

Follow David's "map" above. I used it recently to adjust the pitch and tempo of a recording done years ago on a cassette player that recorded at too fast a speed. Save an original copy because as Kev999 says changes are permanent--or use ctrl z to undo. It worked perfectly and along with some Sonar plugs, T-Racks and Ozone 5, it resurrected some old tunes for me.

A search found this... From: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2005282 "MPEX time/pitch stretching. A 64-bit library is not available for the MPEX time/pitch stretching algorithm, so this feature is not supported in SONAR x64. SONAR's internal time/pitch stretching will be used instead. You can also any AudioSnap features, such as Slip-Stretching as an alternative."

Interesting . . . Time/Pitch Stretch 2 . . . didn't know about this one. I've always gone outside of Sonar to do any serious time / pitch shifting on projects requiring a little more tempo. I've used Adobe Soundbooth, Adobe Audition, even Cool Edit softwares to accomplish this. Adobe seems to use the Izotrope Radius algorithm for time / pitch shift, which I believe is the same as Sonar's Audio snap algorithm. The Time/Pitch Stretch 2 . . . has the look of an older Direct X plug, but I guess trying it out is the only way to really check it out.
