Timing issues with VB3

Hi, I'm a first time poster on this forum, so I'll do my best to follow the right etiquette in giving as much info as possible.

In one of my current projects in Sonar I am having timing issues with the midi on my VB3 organ soft synth. The problems seem similar to the ones discussed in these two threads:

http://forum.cakewalk.com..aspx?m=1455936&high=vb3 http://forum.cakewalk.com..aspx?&m=1301345&mpage=3

When I play back the midi on the soft synth, I can hear that certain notes come in significantly sooner than where they're sitting in the piano roll. When I freeze the track, I can see that the audio for the note comes in at, say, 1:04:937, whereas the midi note is sitting right at 2:01:00.

But here's the kicker: I looked at the above threads and one suggested switching the driver mode from WDM/KS to ASIO. I did so. As soon as I clicked "OK," my computer suddenly shut down and restarted. After it restarted, I tried the same thing again. Same thing happened. The same thing happened again when I just tried clicking "apply."

I'm on a very tight deadline for getting this project done, so I would be eternally grateful for swift responses.
