Timing

For weeks, I've been trying to write a horn section into one of my songs but everything I come up with sounds like garbage when I listen with fresh ears.

Today, i'm at my office.  I'm listening to the demo on my headphones, and am pretty sure I just came up with the perfect lines!  I've scribbled out "Baaaah-bah-bah on the 1, 2.5 & 3 beat" but I know i'll forget the nuances by the time I get home.

My timing sucks.

As they say, timing is everything!  In this case, your timing would have been better if you came up with the line at home.

That said, Greg's suggestion is a good one.

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

I'm not sure recording "Baaaah-bah-bah on the 1, 2.5 & 3 beat" into his phone will be much good later either.

You need a mnemonic.  Picture the muppet band playing it, and I'll bet you'll remember how to do it.

Thanks Eph,
Now I just tried to fit the Muppets theme over a dirty blues swing.  It fit disturbingly well.
