Tips on performing

Any tips on singing live on stage?
Should I wear sun glasses? Or a hat?
It is going to be my first time. I been practicing in my bedroom. I'm performing one of my song that made. Also what should I wear?
Any advice you guys can give me.
Thanks

Understand and feel the lyric...again, understand and feel the lyric...then sing it with the appropriate...not contrived...emotion. Be honest. To yourself and to your audience. Don't worry about hats or glasses.

Where you come from is gone...where you thought you were goin to weren't never there...and where you are ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

+1 on understand and feel, and sing clearly :), people like to actually hear the lyrics still. Biggest compliment I still get, I could understand what you are singing, go figure hey?.

 Also what should I wear?

Tricorn hat adorned with an ostrich feather, 3/4 length purple frock coat, lilac ruffed blouson, peach cummerbund, cerise silk breeches with lemon piping, and silver spangled sling back wellies.

Only the 3/4 length purple frock coat...and that was Tim, not me.  I was wearing the Hussar's jacket.

Great comments have already been suggested.
Especially on the silly sunglasses schtick.
Be a vocalist/entertainer without relying on a glam image.

IMO....
Know your material.
Don't sing to the ceiling or the walls.....or to yourself with your eyes closed as if in deep emotion. :)
Continue making brief, convincing eye contact with your audience throughout the show.

That's my take on it and good luck....

Wear whatever makes you feel good. Performing... It's all about confidence. Can't beat a quality tricorn hat though. You can use the ostrich feather to sign autographs once you find a minion to bring you a pot of ink on a red velvet cushion with golden trim after each performance. Good luck man!

You probably are done singing, but look like the neighborhood of the place you are singing in. Maybe a bit better.
