Tips on resetting verbs and others default settings?
This may or may not be the place to ask this but here goes. Seems everytime I insert a reverb the default setting has too much reverb, i.e. Lexicon P has the mix set to 100%. Sonitus - somewhere in the 60 to 70% range. Is it possible to overwrite these defaults or is there somewhere else to do this? And while I'm at it - why is it the default settings for V vocal all jacked. Have to reset it each time. Can these defaults be changed? Thanks!

I almost always use reverb as a send effect and not an inline effect. But to answer your question, I think it depends on each plugin. If that plugin allows you to change the default then you could do so.

I create a new stereo bus, and then insert my reverb there. Then I go to the channel I want the reverb, and right click to insert a send (not in the regular effects box, in a blank space below volume and stuff). You can do this with multiple tracks so they can all share the same reverb or delay etc.

amiller What steps do you use to set that up? This is relatively standard mixing 101. Send effects are set up on buses, almost always 100% wet. Then you can use sends from any track (or bus) to that effect. The bus itself the becomes your, say, "Reverb Bus" In "ye olde days" this was done because of limited hardware. Nowadays you COULD put a different verb on every place you want one, but then it's more things to change if you want to make a mix change. Plus, for reverbs in particular, routing all the desired signals through one single instance gives a better sense of "being in the same place".

Well that's great if it's the only verb you use. I've done that via buss myself. But with sonar you don't have to. Most of the time I don't want the same sounding verb on everything. Any thoughts on the v vocal thing?

Any thoughts on the v vocal thing? Agreed, but then you just setup multiple buses, not mulitple reverbs for each track. For example, I normally have a drum reverb with a smaller room, then a larger room for synths etc, then maybe a plate for vocals. As for v-vocal, sorry I just started using it and really don't know what I'm doing.

Yah, scaling to taste is trivial at that point. I think most people mix with more than one verb. I usually use three: long, short, and a plate for vox. Don't even get me started on delays, I sometimes use four or five and I think I'm one of lighter delay users out there. I don't think V-Vocal settings can be changed for default, but check and see if it has presets. One thing for sure, crank the Follow or whatever it's called right the heck down as its default setting is terrible.

Seems like there was a post here somewhere awhile back about changing the follow setting on launch to something more reasonable. Just haven't been able to find it again. :-(
