"Titan"- My first song using Sonar

https://soundcloud.com/relentless1-2/titan

I started working on this song on Friday and it's still a work in progress. This version hasn't been converted to wave files yet for fine tuning so this is all from the midi piano rolls on the tracks.

This is a pretty song that is off to a good start.  I'm looking forward to hearing it completed.  Long may your affair with Sonar last.

Titan is actually an intro leading to the sets of songs that I'm in the process of doing. A small part of the melody in Titan is from a song I made back in 2009 called Retribution. Here's the link to Retribution that I recently uploaded (had to dig it up from a flash drive that I had it stored it).

Great beginning and looking forward to hearing more. I hope I don't spoil it for other people, but when I was listening, I imagined it being an interlude for "Downton Abbey!"

you may have other plans, I understand!  :)

    nice one, and thanks again

Great start!  It's sounding pretty good already, but the strings seem a little too "insistent", maybe soften their attack a bit, and take them down slightly in the mix.  They're covering up the nice piano quite a bit in the middle section.

Also, there's empty space at the end which you can easily clean up by taking the WAV file exported from Sonar and bringing it back into a new Sonar project to trim it and add mastering FX as you like.  Or you can use a different mastering program (I use Sony Sound Forge myself).

As Lynn noted, this is very pretty. I think it might feel more "titanic" with more textural elements.
This is your song, but I'll throw out some ideas.
A strong, Knopfleresque guitar(listen to the last part of Telegraph Road).
Percussion. This just begs for some dramatic percussion. Tympani, perhaps?
I get what Waltenstein is saying about the strings, but to me, they are looking for a release, a lead into something more heavily charged.
You've got something here. Work it. And welcome to Sonar.

Wonderful sounds! Probably a dumb question; but, are you doing instrumentation solely with SONAR plugins/instruments/synths?

Welcome, buddy!  It's a good start to something interesting.  Keep plugging away.  I like the way it starts with piano then the strings hit.  Cool.
