To 64bit or not to 64bit that is the question

I just got a 64bit Windows 7 Machine.  It runs Sonar x1 fine I suppose although I'm still having some DPro issues.  I have 2 audio interfaces a MOTU 896mk3 and an MAudio 2626.

I'd have to say the only real improvement I'm experience in the input monitoring is excellent! I have no latency, the system seems to be able to handle several tracks of audio and tons of effects and the such.

I'm just not certain the all this improved performance is due to the fact that I'm running a quad core system with 8 gigs of ram or because it's 64bit.  I have a micro atx system I need to upgrade to Windows 7. It has a quad core 64bit processor in it but I've been running XP 32bit.  I suppose I can keep the motherboard?  Do motherboards care whether your op sys is 64 or 32bit?  I'm just trying to determine if I want to install Win 7 64bit on my other machines or if 32bit will do the trick.

Any thoughts?

it's the CPU that matters.. if it supports 64 bit.. then no prob.. and since it's a quad should run ok..

there is a thing on the MS site to check your pc's speed.. that might help you also decide if it's viable.

I'm running an i5 750 that can handle 64 bot OS... on 32 XP.  It flies, handles everything I throw at it (normally running at 20% or lower, even fully loaded)  and I have no compatibility problems since it's all 32 bit.

You might also want to confirm that the 64 bit drivers for your audio interfaces are stable.
