To change the current Edit Filter setting

* Hold down the SHIFT key and click an automatable control (Volume, Pan, etc.) in a track strip.

No go here, either. I wasn't aware that you could shift-click on anything but an envelope so I'm guessing it never worked...?

No you're misunderstanding. The envelope already has to exist and you click on the envelope, not the control.

To create an envelope quickly either press T or click the middle mouse button and select the required envelope from the edit filter in the HUD.

The statement in the OP is verbatim out of the Reference Guide. It's supposed to be an alternative to shift-clicking the envelope. But it doesn't work whether an envelope exists or not. I don't think anyone knew about it, because it has never worked.

Ah, never saw that, my bad. Let's be kind and say it's a misprint.

I like this option, which I also discovered there s a result of this thread:

Hold down the SHIFT key and right-click to toggle between the two most recently selected data types.

Makes switching back and forth between clips and transient markers much easier.
