To the men: Progressive Insurance Chick?

Her name is Stephanie Courtney, and she's drawn up quite a stir in the online world for her Progressive Insurance TV ads in America (and possibly elsewhere).

People seem to fall in to either one of two extremes:

Either they find her strangely hot, or they can't stand her (and her voice). Google progressive ad chick and you'll see what I mean. I thought I'd ask the guys here. Whaddaya think?

I have to say, I think she's strangely way hot for some reason...

    Definitely hot.

But in that unexpected way like when you were 16 and suddenly realized your friend's mom was hot.

Yeah, she's perky, has a bit of "girl next door" ish ness, and some geekiness, all of which I dig. Plus, props to them for putting out a 38 year old (instead of a 23 year old) as their corporate mascot / model / spokesperson. I'm 39 in two weeks, so she's right up my demographic alley.

Ed , you want the good news or bad news?

ok , the bad.. she has a thing for the London accent and younger guys, I have a date with her next Tuesday...
    (I don't really)

I dunno, she's good looking for her age. I used to go to school with a girl years ago and when I met her years later, I hardly recognised her...very pretty.. while I bumped into someone the guys used to fancy and well she'd seen better days..

but heck who am I kidding age did me no favours to be objective..

now the good news if that goes no where , is she's 39 (February 8, 1970)

since you were honest.. well here's a few women I see on tv who are nice

Riz Lateef, she reads the news in London and comes across as genuine.

also Pauley Perrette , she's in NCIS.. Nadine Velazquez , shes in My name is Earl have a certain something.

I remember Susan posting she like Hugh Jackman. hehe

Although I should find another girlfriend who is a creative of some sort (I had an artist girlfriend at one point) , the majority didn't grasp music wasn't 9-5

Progressive is really playing her ads a LOT over here, so she's become something of a household name (almost like Billy Mays in the states).

Here is some of her comedy with the Groundlings (not amazingly funny, but interesting to see her without the "look" that they give her in the ads, which requires TWO hours in the hair & makeup chair):

also, i liked the "to the men" bit in the title, you know, in case the three women on this forum were unsure as to the nature of the post

Yeah, I've heard the Sonar forum is a scary place. And I know other places to get my questions answered anyway.

Susan , Marah are the obvious posters..

Mamabear (ok so she posted before this) , PeggySue , Elle (?)
there are more though , just not regular posters.

I do remember some guys wife / girlfriend signed up and wasn't too happy with him posting and asked for help to stop him posting. I think most said there's far worse things he could be doing, least you know where he is.

Then there was the lady who came to the forum to get advice on what recording-related gift to buy her husband/boyfriend. Wow. If that relationship doesn't work out, she should come back here because she's gonna be some geek's dream girl for sure.

it does remind me of the classic.. who is the hottest female cartoon character discussion they had on the radio the other night

a few rang in for jessica ? out of roger rabbit.. others said betty boop (or is that boo . no wait thats the singer.lol) and one even said the cadbury caramel advert, maybe because it was off her voice

although a few friends used to like Mariella frostrops voice? me I didn't see the big deal about it

I’m reminded of early Red Dwarf where Lister and the Cat discuss who is hotter - Betty Rubble or Wilma Flintstone. Long pause, they look at one another abashed. “I can’t believe we’re talking about which cartoon woman we’d like to make love to, it’s daft,” says Lister. “Yeah,” agrees the Cat, “we both know she’d never leave Fred…”

I like the blonde. Yea, I like her better than Flo, esp. her breathy voice. That voice kills - like Marilyn Monroe except not dumb. Always has me looking up at the TV when I'm reading.

I feel sorry for the female viewers - whoever picks the guys for commercials likes the metrosexual look. Maybe women do like that look, but it seems more likely it is a gay guy picking them. There is a Mens Wharehouse commercial here in Texas and they have some brad pit look-alike doing runway stances that they flash on the screen. I mean, he is so metro he looks gay. Even my wife was appalled. I can only think they must be advertising to the women who buy their husband's suits. Of course, what do I know? Haven't bought a suit in 5 years, and that was for a funeral.
