Toilet Etiquette

I've noticed that the restrooms here in Orlando, FL seem to be missing on providing toilet seat covers (you know the paper seat covers so you don't sit on the seat itself). It's not only the mens room, but also the ladies room (my wife had noticed it when taking our little ones to the loo).
Why is that? Is this an East Coast thing? Isn't hygene just as important here as it is in the West Coast?

    Hi,

A lot of it has to do with the public (pubic?) location information on each state.

In California, when I was working in the restaurant industry, in the 70's and 80's it was not required. Both Washington and Oregon, had those enacted in the 90's for ALL public restrooms.

Sometimes I wonder about Florida ... they worry more about cheating on an election than they do public safety and sanitary conditions ... maybe that is why they get all the spring bruhaha ladies and we all go down there to get .... can we use that word here?

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I see nothing in the TOS about the word "get". Feel free to use it willy-nilly.

Think yourself lucky - in the UK you're lucky if public toilets even have a seat ! Could be worse though - in France anything more than a hole in the floor is a bonus.

I live on the east coast and we have them here. Maybe someone in Florida is going around and stealing all of them. This must be it...folks from the west coast over visiting are stealing them and taking them back to the west coast ....just sayin' :)

I use the "hover" method under all circumstances in public rest rooms. It's a  self explamitory method where the buttocks never touches the seat. The way Spock from star treck does it

    Two things

When I lived in Germany in 95 I saw automatic seat cleaning toilets in public rest rooms, typical german engineering the seat retracted into a cleaning apparatus and came out sparkling

Charmin has a web site and smart phone app called " Sit or Squat" and yes you can search for a rest room and the reviews posted aleart you to sitting or squatting ..

In GA most decent public restrooms have those things. If I have to "sit" I usually try to find a Chik-Fil-A resturant, they keep a CLEAN restroom.

My pet peeve with toilets are those older residential toilets that have the small oval seat (obviously designed by a woman). There is no room in the front and I don't want my anatomy pressed up against the toilet seat. It is awkward, I usually use a "buffer" of paper.
