Tomorrow is the so-called "Internet Doomsday"

Big whoop.  Tomorrow, anyone infected with a DNSchanger virus (installed up to a year ago and dormant until tomorrow) can check with an FBI website (http://www.dns-ok.us/) to see if they are looking up IP's correctly.

I doubt it will be anything close to the issue the news is making it, but I thought I'd post the link(s) for those who want to check.

HERE is the organization that the FBI has been working with and HERE is some babble from MSNBC about it.

I was just reading about that. Seems like the type of thing you'd know if you had it. Doesn't it redirect you to sites trying to hock stuff?

I think what it amounts to is, some large blocks of servers on the network are going to go down for a while. Everyone who had good security already probably only got a 404 error when they hit an infected server. I was getting that alot recently. I'm sure Facebook will affected since they are rank with bad ads. It's hard to say who and where the shutdown will hit. I tested green.

It was all engineered by Bapu trying to redirect everyone to the CH so he could increase his post count and show off his alembic.

This supposedly only affects a very small number of people. They are the ones who got infected but haven't removed the virus as of yet. The media is just trying to scare old people and dum dums to get ratings as usual.

I made a lot of money off the Y2K scare. Sure, I knew it was B.S., but I wasn't gonna say anything, not when I was charging $90 an hour to save people from certain disaster. Every TV news story predicting that planes would fall from the sky made me smile.

Unfortunately, I've developed some morals since then.

January 1, 2000 was never the date that worried me.  Februrary 29th was.  The year 1900 was not a leap year, but 2000 was.

I was one of the guys that was paid to stay in Verizon Wireless' IT department all night during the New Year's change and I had a lot of fun looking out the far window at midnight and yelling that a bunch of buildings just blew up with power outtages coming towards us.  Hehe...

Bit, I did a language/platform translation of a COBOL KSAM file Unix based system to Oracle Databse/Oracle Forms Windows OS for Y2K. The COBOL based system only had YYMMDD in a 6 CHARACTER field (yes I said CHARACTER!!!!).

Made a pretty penny on that one too. Those were the days.

I've been trying to get on the FBI site but it keeps redirecting me to the IRS site and it keeps saying I owe 'em 1000's of dollars in back taxes and other fines... and now I'm getting wierd popups that say "We know you're out there!" "We're coming for you!"

    anyone else having this problem?

    ...

Nope. I turned on pop-up blocker.
