Tomorrow the Milk might freeze before it comes out of the Cow
It looks highly probable. Think of the coldest thing you can imagine. It's could get colder than that. Are you scared yet? Might be a great time for fresh home made milkshakes.

gotta love that global warming. makes all the patterns change. it was 1 degree up at alta last night, 11 degrees here, not really that cold. wind chills make it worse.... yesterday it was 11 degrees at 10,000', and with 30 mph winds made it about -12 degrees.. with out any fresh snow, not worth skiing i'll wait

Mild in Scotland now. We'll probably get snow in late March like last year.

That's right I remember you ski a little Bat. I guess that would be a good weather for you up there. James I hope it stays mild. I'll be visiting your neighbor later this year, Ireland.

Well, the cows have to have a heated place to live. It was -17 here last night with a wind chill of -47. Can't imagine what people in Canada are doing with this Arctic Blast. The cows have quit giving milk. The places are closed.

Which part Tim? I'm only 30 miles from the Cairnryan - Larne ferry crossing so we get all of Ireland's weather.

What a joke. A group of US Marines is coming to Finland to study winter warfare. We're having about the warmest december/January ever, and look at North America :o) In northern Finland it's closer to normal, luckily. Well, they've promised some winter in the south next week...

Hi, Heck, in my young days, in Madison, we doubled up the sox, put on the cowboy boots and hit the streets at 6AM to deliver the newspaper! One time it was -12 and wind chill factor was -55 ... but the papers got delivered. Oh, by the way, the ground had at least 12 inches of icy snow that had piled up over a month plus! It was fun!
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

James- I'll be going all over the Republic to the south.Dublin first because that's where the jets land but then to Galway, Cork and Limerick, then back to Dublin to catch the flight home.I looked at where you are. It looks to be more to the north. A shame it's not closer. I would love to meet you sometime. It looks as if Dublin is the closest I'll be to you. That part of Scotland looks beautiful. Kalle,we are sending Marines there to learn how to fight in the cold? I wonder why we didn't simply send them to Minnesota and save a ton of taxpayer money. I am probably missing something, but to win a war in the cold I would simply steal the heat from the enemy. It would only be a matter of time after that.No shots fired.Heck they would probably give us their guns for a little heat....I am ill informed to try to think like a soldier. I don't want to shoot things at people anyway. Mosh I think a lot of the thing is hype pure and simple. Our news networks don't have anything better to do that scare the living pee out of anyone even thinking about going out in it. Granted it can be potentially dangerous. You need common sense. I fix the things that make people warm so I'm in it off and on. Like anything else, pace yourself and come prepared. I went out in short sleeves at 5F the other day to check the mail and I thought my wife was going to have a coniption fit. 5 minutes in it won't hurt anyone. I do think that us who are in it more develop some low level anti-freeze in our blood..( or maybe it's that extra insulation around my midsection). I don't love playing in it but if I need to be there I make it work.

Yeah, we're relatively quite near to Belfast, Dublin's quite a trek from here. It's a wonderful city though, you'll have a great time. If you can, go here; http://www.jfp.ie/ Best pub I've ever been in

Thanks James I will certainly check that out . I tend to like my ale not as hoppy and more clear than dark. It looks like Guinness takes the cake over there. Maybe if I tried one from over there I would change my mind. I don't think ours is like theirs at all. I hear the company and the music can be nice too in those places. We have Irish pubs around here, but they are probably different too. We were just in one recently and I had my first boxy ever. Loved it. Things are just better from the source. I remember the first time I ever had real bread from the northeast here. Before that all I had was wonder bread and the wonder of that had worn off long ago. In the south all we had for lunch meat was factory made bologna and hotdogs. The kind where they bring in the animal scraps from one end and hot dogs come out the other. I couldn't believe the difference here. Those Germans can make some serious sausage and sweet bologna....how did I get off on this. I'm hungry again. And i'm writing a book.

Did they say if it's a NATO thing? Is Finland even part of NATO? I've seen/read stories about one group that goes to Colorado or Wyoming for cold weather training. I think they were Army, though.
