ToneBoosters TB Evoke Released

As usual with ToneBoosters you get a good quality plugin, and of course the value is certainly there, well worth the price of admission.

Regenerate air, process dynamics, remove background noise, and attenuate excess sibilance with TB Evoke.

Description

TB Evoke consists of an integrated DC/rumble filter, a smart gate, a transparent compressor, a multi-band excess sibilance processor, and an exciter in one convenient plugin. The main benefits of integrating these processes into one plugin are a very low CPU load, low latency, and better integration and interdependencies of these effects compared to a cascade of individual plugins. TB Evoke was designed to operate on individual tracks as well as busses, and can handle a wide range of content.

Exciter and sibilance remover in one plugin, an interesting idea. My first thought was that makes as much sense as a vacuum cleaner that spits dirt out the back. But I'm going to give this one a demo, based on positive past experiences with TB products.

So I gave this one a quick run-through...first impressions is it's a nice little channel strip for 20 Euros. I wasn't blown away by the exciter, but the other modules were pretty good. Unfortunately, the exciter was the piece I would have been most interested in, so I'll pass. But if you're looking for a good - and cheap - vocal processor, TB Evoke is both.

The new EQ gui is nice. I've always thought the Toneboosters EQ was the poor man's Pro-Q. Track Essentials is one of the best deals out there...and I finally own it and a few of the bus plugins. TB is a great value, but I don't see a need for Evoke here.

Evoke is evocative of Cakewalk's VX-64, isn't it?  Shootout time!

The new TB EQ looks good, too.  I still like the OverTone EQ's GUI better, but that's purely a matter of taste.  You really can't beat ToneBoosters for value.

You guys know more than me about this stuff, but the TB Bus Comp is another one I really like. It's very simple and sounds great. We all surely have several compressors that do pretty much the same thing, but It's quick, sounds great, and does the job.
