Too Close Song - How'd Dey Do DAT?!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYXjLbMZFmo

The chorus...is .....EPIC. How did they create that cascading, warbled, tremelo effect? Does anyone know? I get wood just thinking about it. Is it a synth with some sort of a saw and a tremelo?

Just sounds like a tempo-synced LFO. It's not exactly tremolo, as the LFO is modulating a filter as well as the VCA.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Just a modulating Moog or bass synth

    UAD has a modulating Moog.

Roland and Trillion have bass synths.

A modulation wheel or envelope may be used with the latter for the sliding pitch.

It is much simpler than it sounds. Most patches like this start wit ha simple saw or square wave.  Assign cutoff filter to lfo with a sine wave type. The lfo can be temp synced or controlled manually to sound more organic.  i have seen it done both ways.  It's very common in dubstep  and some would argue overused in the genre. As dubstep elements find their ways into pop music, you will hear more of this.,  If you have Z3ta+2, there are patches very much like this , but it can be done with just about any synth.

Snap...it does sound cool. To me it's like taking some of the best elements of cinematic scoring and plopping them into a nice pop song. Helps create the false reality.

    Thanks for the responses!
