Too many layers

Hi
I'm creating XML files using X3 and importing them into Finale.I keep getting them same error in Finale that there are too many layers in my XML files. When i contact Finale they say the reason is my MIDI Tracks have multiple channels and i need to limit this to one.So for instance one peice is just 2 pianos.I have isolated one track changed the midi channel to one (i think) and still get the same error. The VST i am using is Pianoteq.
Any ideas how to rectify this problem and how do i double check that my track is using just one midi channel.
Thanks
Justin

    Hi Justin...

Not sure I have all the answers here, but to see the midi channels open the midi Event List (see views) view. it displays all midi events and related data...

You can also force the issue using the midi filtering... Under the menu Process use find/change and select all channels for its input then a single channel for output...

Another thought is that when exporting midi there is a choice between midi format 0 or 1... I forget which is which but if I remember correctly, one will force the midi to a single track... This may be the issue?
