Too many markers

I'm working on a really long piece. To keep my head straight I'm using a lot of markers. For big sections, the marker names are in all caps with ================= after it (such as "PIANO DUET =============="), and within a section, I use a lot of markers to denote things like "verse 1", "C#min vamp", or "Cellos enter". Now, however, I seem to have reached a limit with them. The Markers module drop down fills the entire screen vertically, but I can't scroll off the bottom of the list to see more markers. There is a little up arrow triangle at the top, but a) it doesn't do anything, and b) why is it there anyway, since the markers showing start at the beginning, and so actually there should be a down arrow at the bottom which I can click to scroll down.

While my real solution here would be for Nested Markers, failing that, I am hitting this bug in the markers that I can't find a way around without removing useful markers just so I have enough room in the list. This is going to be an enormous hassle moving forward though, since my piece is maybe only about halfway done and so there will hopefully be many more markers.

Try floating your markers view ... removing it from the multi dock.
I often have a lot of markers also.
I always have my markers view floated onto an other monitor and I have a scroll bar on it.

You might not have an other monitor but I suspect floating it out of the MD might give you the scrollbar.

Im guessing you've never tried using the up/down arrows on your keyboard.

It would be handy if the mouse scroll wheel would move through the markers when accessed from the console bar.

    +1000 agreed.

I've been saying that for years now.
That would also be great on plug in menus as well.

We have a lot of markers, too.
Sometimes we have the undocked markers view from top of the screen to the bottom.
    Therefore I recommend 2 monitors with 2560 x 1440

    +1 for nested markers
And I miss the possibility for printing the markerlist to printer or notepad.

We digitize tapes, vinyl, dat, md ... in broadcast and studio quality for publishers, public institutions and individuals.

    4 x RME Fireface 800, 2 x Roland Octa Capture and 4 x Roland Quad Capture, Focusrite .... Studer A80, RP99, EMT948 ...

With a large project like yours, have you considered breaking up the project into movements and having each movement as a separate project? Then each part would have 1/2-1/3 fewer markers.
Probably a lot more trouble to do than just scrolling through the marker view.

I actually started the project that way, but on the advice of this forum, switched it up to one big project to maintain effects consistency. IF this piece were multiple movements, that might make it possible to separate, but this is one album-length piece with no breaks.

Thanks everyone! I am now undocking markers view, which solves that problem. Additionally, I am trying something else that would be a great Sonar feature, though I suspect it would never get built because most projects aren't as long as this. I have a plain Midi track at the very top called SECTIONS, which is muted. I create empty clips in it and sretch them to correspond to sections of the project. This way I have a visual representation of all the different parts of the project.
