that's one thing I was wondering about.  I assumed they were all different from what's in the packs, but I guess not.

I was interested in the songwriters packs since, I too, am a complete simpleton when it comes to drums.  every time I try to create drums from the included loops I always get reviews telling me the drums are "too busy" or "what in the world does the drummer think he's doing there?"  or "were the drums programmed by bapu?"

So I guess there is a market for simple.

Most of the patterns I use are usually so simple that even I could play them on a V-Drum. I can actually play them on the keyboard. And I don't want anything more complex than that - just "realism", little tiny variations.

The "worst" I've seen are the ones in SSD. It's like competing against a Neil Peart wannabe who decided to make your cover of the Beatles' Love Me Do interesting for drummers.

Assuming this was meant for me... (it's not like you to omit the quotee), I assumed that we were talking about the Roots combo. MIDI loops that are part of an SDX  package can be purchased separately in some cases (which I have done with the Roots midi). The "Packs" such as the Songwriters series have nothing to do with the SDX midi and are original. There's lot's of patterns to get you started on misc. styles. I highly recommend them and have purchased all of them with the exception of "heavy metal" oriented material. To me it's well worth the $29.00 USD although the majority of the packs I purchased were priced at $19.99 USD.

Yes. Neil Peart has a place in Rush. And Ringo, well, he has his in the Beatles (like, playing tambourines in the back in that song.) ;)

I must agree! I will certainly buy more of their midi packs down the road, but I try to plan and save for future sales when possible.

Question for you guys:  do the Toontrack Midi Packs ever go on sale?

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. Seems it could fill the gap - there's one thing I'm not totally fond of in Logic and it's deep editing midi drums grooves. I guess I should be ok w/ my laptop's native resolution.

Ordered. :P

Man, how did I manage to live w/o that thing?! It totally rocks!

I realize it'll sound like a commercial or something, but TT already had completely changed the way I worked w/ EZ Drummer - I used to agonize forever on drums. And now EZ Player takes that even further and makes customization of those grooves dead simple...

Thanks again, guys.

actually I was responding to cecelius2 (Wayne), but  you're right I made a mistake and did not quote it.  no problem, tho, you have answered well.

BTW - I HAD to go ahead and buy Custom and Vintage while it's only $79.

Steven Slate Drums.

I just tried them again in EZ Player incidentally - maybe I was harsh, you can sometimes salvage a measure or two out of a verse or a chorus here and there. ;)

I've done a mock up of a new song using SSD Metal clips (on a Metal Kit). For the most part it came out nice. Won't be part of the song (we have a drummer for that).

ok - I don't have SSD.  Toontrack are the only drums I have except some really low end kits playable in Kontakt I bought years ago.

Wut? I thought you were a bass slut? How many slut hats do you wear? And how is JB handling your indiscretions?

And..., would you have a recent recording of your slutty drums for me to check out?

Excellent purchase. It's my go-to kit.

Did THESE with my son. Started out with EZDrummer Meatalheads but then got switched over to Bluenoiseplugins Metal 1 kit for the final mix.

I asked for it. And you certainly delivered. Not my cuppa (genre) but this is very very well done. And I enjoyed looking around your site. Bravo Bapu!

EDIT/ADDITION: Correct me if I'm wrong but, you're not a young spring chicken anymore, right? And you still have that kinda of energy??!

I'm 59. But in my mind I'm still 30. Mooch says I act 12. Somewhere in all that is some truth.

Pssssst. For the record. I'm not the oldest CHB member.

Beagle, the Steve Slate preset pack for Superior Drummer 2 is a very close to Steve's own SSD EZX package sound. It gives something like 7 'mix finished' kits.
