word a year ago was that there wwas no future plans for SD3 at all.  from rep at Toontrack.

that doesn't mean thingsh\ haven't changed or that there are no going to be plans or a new EZ drummer 3 even.

no clue.

I went Geist / BFD 3 and din't look back.  I keep seeing and eyeing the new EZ packs that come out and I did pick up Indie EZ pack but I have not invested in any of the addons for EZ Drummerr or SD 2 yet.  though every sale that comes I kinda think I should be investing in some of those packs and then the sale ends and I continue on with Geist and BFD 3.

I can't imagine how you would regret the upgrade.

$99 - I don't want to fork that out for an upgrade.

While I'm not going to compare EZD vs. AD - at least with AD you get their audio engine included and they have a lot more sales.

Many times Toontrack or a vendor will have deals on Superior.  If it can be had for $200 that's the one to get.

I checked out the ED2 loved the songwriting tool..

I have ED1 and running the 64 bit version of X3. I could get no sound and it seem to install 32 bit version of ED1 from the 1.4.0 download from my toontrack account. Where is the 64 bit download for ED1? If i can get that to work, i will upgrade. ED2 trial worked just fine.

Just as a side note: The upgrade from EZD1 to EZD2 is right at 58 Euros at Timespace.

That's a little more than $60.  Pretty nice deal.

I understand there could be a new version coming or something but does anyone else remember a developer saying " you better upgrade to the new product by a certain time or you will have to pay full price after that?" I don't remember seeing this before.

Pretty sure they'll know the numbers yet to upgrade and will step up with some sort of closing offer, especially at retailers.

I'd be very happy to get it for that.

How did you do that, I just checked and it's ~ $110 on my pc. I'm sure I am missing something here?

SmokeyJ628 says it's 58 euros or $60 dollars. How do I buy in Euros, if necessary?

Thanks for the info!

@Robbyk: I did what SmokeyJ said and paid in euros through PayPal without the VAT and the total was the above mentioned $63.18 or so. Exchange rates may be a little different now but i think that should still be in the ballpark.

EZD 2, the greatest song writing tool for drums ever. IMO. I would have paid $89 just for search and tap tool. I must have 20,000 or more loops. Lol.

I agree. I tried some of the other Drum programs, I keep going back to EZD2.

Next for me is Jamstix. UI takes a bit to get use to, but I love the results.

I prefer EZD2 over everything I've tried too. If they would let you buy single kit pieces instead of entire kits with EZX and be able to shape the tone of each drum more that would would put it over the top for me.

And for his reminding people to check your converter to see what is cheaper Pounds or Euros. My informal assessment is about 80% of the time Euros, 20% Pounds Sterling, maybe less for pounds. Though Euros sounds like a sandwich and Pounds Sterling sounds like real money.

Re: Toontrack EZDrummer 2 upgrade by Dec 31 2015/12/07 09:41:24 (permalink)
Last time I did the pound charge the price was as seen at checkout  - but - next day the bank added an additional $6.50 for currency conversion charge.  so the deal wasn't a deal after all cause I could have bought the product and paid in USD and save 1 dollar in total.

always know before you hit that pay button - there may be additional charges if your not careful.

that being said and out of the way even with a bank currency conversion that would be the cheapest price I have seen for the EZD 2 upgrade.

I might let this upgrade slide, I have been using BFD 3 and Geist along with Maschine and rarely if ever go back to EZD1 or SD2 anymore.  I only have the indie ezx addon pack so no additional packs for me yet, I haven't gotten caught in the ToonTrack GAS drum addons thankfully.

any why exactly after Dec 31 won't I be able to upgrade my product from v1 to v2 again?  never heard of such a think in all of software upgrade through the years.  if there is a EZD upgrade to EZD3 which covers v1 & v2 upgrade to v3 that makes some sense but just tell your users, feel like I am being left out to dry and made to feel I need to spend money right now or I could lose and miss out on something I don't even use right now.  getting frustrated with software and upgrades (can ya tell! haha).

i have ezd1, and superior 2

i prefer the routing options i have with SD2, i want complete control over all my tracks.

that said, i like the search and tap function in EZd2,
but don't want to upgrade only for that.

if i knew they were going to add that function to SD2, that's what i would prefer.

but i cannot find ANY info on future upgrade, so i will have to sit it out.

If there would have been a REALLY good sale on SD2 over Black Friday/ Cyber Monday, I would have jumped on it.  I have been wanting to get SD2 for a while.

That being said, I have pretty much stopped using the other 3 drum midi software packages I have and for the last year, using EZD2 exclusively.  I really like the work flow of EZD2 and the tap to find.  I find the drum tones completely adequate for the Projects I work on.  In-fact, I often prefer the DW drums or ROCK! to most every other drum set I own.  The only reason I would like to move up to SD2, is for the additional flexibility of having complete control.
