Toontrack VSSD box....What Up?

I ordered the SDX Roots...Brushes, Rods and Mallets from my ol pals at Sweetwater along with Antares Throat while both were on sale the other day.  I figured like always they'd just send me my serials and I'd go to the sites register, download, install and authorize as per usual.  But my sales guy at Sweetwater said no...on the SDX you'll need "the installers" which are boxed.  We'll send em right out.  Which they did as I have just received them.  And what it is, is a heavy dvd sized box containing eleventy jillion CDs/DVDs that contain every single one of Toontracks products.  I'm supposing you just install whichever ones you have a serial number for and then register and authorize as per usual on the Web.  And I don't mind having all the physical media on hand in case I need to "reload" sometime.  But why all that expense instead of just having everything as a download from Toon??  Anyone else used this new VSSD box??

I got this as well when Guitar Center was selling EZ Drummer for $29. It came with the whole enchilada. At first I was wondering if the guy handed me the wrong box. I think ToonTrack just wants you to have it all so that you'll be tempted to eventually by them all. So far it's worked

I saw some nimrod on a youtube video who was saying it had "everything that Toon makes in it" and then emptied out the box which didn't even have all the Superior stuff let alone any of EZD line.  I took the box home at lunch and left it in my production room...but you're saying that now it DOES have all the stuff from both EZD and Superior in it?  That would be great.

No download on the SDX's. I want to say about 50+ gigs for the full Roots.
I was sent just the two 5 DVD sets for Roots from Audiodeluxe.
I got the big box when I cross graded to Superior few years back.
Obviously its "out of date" now.
But everything that Toon had at that point was included.

Right.  I'm glad to have it.  I've got all the EZ stuff and several of the Superior ones as well.  But it will be gread to have hard copies of everything.

I love my VSSD box - if I have the option for Serial only I take it as my latest VSSD box came with Roots.  Toontrack started it when they went to digital serial only sales options.  Plus it's a great incentive to do those inpulse purchases when you have instant access to multi GB libraries.  Come on, you know there are times when the Custom & Vintage SDX is screaming out "But me, Buy me now!"

If you had to download the libraries like I do you would understand why they send you a box.  It can take hours to DL some of the SDX libraries.

    'ol pal,
    PULL THE TRIGGER!
At these prices its beyond a no-brainer.
The only thing I don't have is the Twisted EZX.
Don't know that I'll ever use #1 Hits, but it was one of those bundle things...

I want the VSSD box so I can say I have "#1 hits" without having to install it.

    Then I'd be 100% Toontrack.

As of right now, #1 hits is the only thing of theirs I don't have. Unless I've missed something. I have all their MIDI packs, all Sup Producer presets, all the other EZXs, all the SDXs, EZPiano, EZPlayer, EZMIx and all EZMix packs. I even have Evil Drums SDX.

Now, what Am I supposed to do with all this?

In general (no pun intended)? Very good.

    Bapu: How are the midis?
I know you were asking this of Bapu, but I will add my 2 cents here as well.

The Roots midi grooves are nice.  In particular, I have been searching for authentic brush swirls; Toontrack and Morgen Agren nailed these down this time.  The subtlety of the brushes and swirl patterns when used with Roots Brushes,Rods & Mallets is very realistic.  These midi brush swirls also sound quite nice on the Jazz EZX.  This for me was a good investment.
