It's a real slap in the face to Barry Manilow that none of his songs were mentioned. :D:D

Just looked a little closer at that list (and listened to the several songs I'd never heard before) and came to this obvious conclusion:

That list is whacked!

Sorry Grim, we're not referring to that Alex. Our Alex 'The Kook' was a founder member of The CHB and the chap who provided that monstrous intro passage for (Bow Before) Asparapuss. All in all a really great guy.

A few more for your consideration...

Hey Jude
Stairway to Heaven
Another Brick in the Wall
Smoke on the Water
Whiter Shade of Pale
Layla
Satisfaction

...

I'm thinking that the reason for that really bad list missing all these is because they never heard FM Radio when it mattered and it was the reason why you bought the stuff. The music was GREAT and deserved the audience.

Some of the crap listed in there is just that ... cheap stuff that no one will recognize on the radio at all!

The thought of TS mentioned next to PF and LZ ... just boggles the mind!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

How the hell do you know who bought what?

Pedro, you really do have to get over this obnoxious sense of self-importance and perceived superiority you carry around with you.

It's not a very nice characteristic in someone you're trying to have a conversation with

I was right next to radio, FM station number one in Santa Barbara, and got to see a lot of it working for many years, including the likes of the famous KLOS and KMET in Los Angeles.

There is nothing obnoxious in what I said, except that you didn't like my not mentioning Thin Lizzy or AC/DC, which also were huge players in those days by many other DJ's.

While you may know your own music well, history and its variation in music via the American radio and specially FM radio, is not something that you seem to know very well, or have an appreciation for. At least, I was listening to 1,000 British bands, in those days as well, but you would never consider that as a valuable experience.

To even play some of your stuff, we had to fight record stores, that used to say that is not a hit, or wouldn't sell, and didn't know music from the stuff that fell out of their butts! They just knew a few hits!

And promptly forgot the music 10 years later when it was gone!

Make sure you know which side you are on, before you spew some tobacco spit! I respect and love the music ... not the rest!

There is some doubt that dear old Brian Johnston ever said that, but it's still funny.  He did say "There's Neil Harvey standing at leg slip with his legs wide apart, waiting for a tickle'' though

Although I've never even seen a Cricket match (other than the dart game of Cricket), I've heard many similar sentences from the late Sid Waddell with his dart commentary (he was actually a member of the dart forum I'm a senior moderator of).  Things like:

"Look at the man go: it's like trying to stop a water buffalo with a pea-shooter."

"He's perspiring like a pudding in a pot."

"His eyes are bulging like the belly of a hungry chaffinch."

"The atmosphere is so tense, if Elvis walked in with a portion of chips, you could hear the vinegar sizzle on them."

And

"There was less noise when Pompeii was swamped in lava! Absolute pandemonium here! Barmaids are frozen like Greek statues watching! No beer's been served! Everybody's eyes [are] absolutely hooked on that board."

 Huh?

What has one single word of that reply got to do with answering "How the hell do you know who bought what?"

Seriously, do you ever actually read what people post? It seems like you simply ignore whatever's been said and proceed to type a load of irrelevant bumph.

Johnners never actually said it in commentary.

He did say it on air though. He was reading out a listener's letter on Test Match Special in which the author suggested he'd used that particular line. Subsequently, all the recordings of TMS in which both Peter Willey and Michael Holding played were duly scrutinised to no avail.

However, they could have probably saved themselves the bother. Some time later, it was reckoned Johnners had been the victim of a cruel hoax when someone noticed that the innocuous looking signatory on the letter betrayed its mischievous intent when read out aloud.... Mrs Tess Tickle.

Straummy doesn't get it. If Pedro bought it, no one else did. If Pedro likes it, no one else understands it properly. If Pedro berates it, it's crap even if the evidence points out otherwise.

Oh yeah and he probably doesn't read what others say.
