Touch DAW

I'm starting to record myself more and I'm finding my wireless keyboard a little frustrating at times. I have a Kindle Fire and with a root hack it will run Android apps like Touch DAW. Being able to activate transport and adjust levels from another location would be very helpful. I would be connecting via router. Is anybody using this app?

Wow! Lots of interest. Since I posted it, I thought I'd follow up after a few days of using TouchDaw.

My DAW is connected to the router by cable. Wireless cards don't play well on my system. It was easy to setup using rtpmidi. Overall it functions perfectly and quickly. The only issue I've had is the jog wheel sometimes sends X1 into a scrolling frenzy. I've found lightly tapping the wheel when it's where I want it, prevents this.

I'm thrilled this exists. It's changed the way I mix. The biggest advantage is being able to stand at the back of the room and hear the adjustments in real time. For recording myself, it's eliminated some of the frustrating elements. I can do anything I want to do at any place in the studio. I've been using a wireless keyboard and it frequently lost connection and I still had to get to the controls to do any level adjusting. Now, it's like being able to carry the FW1884 around with me. My piano and B3 is on a different floor and that was a major PITA. That alone is worth the price of admission to me.

This is the future of control surfaces. I can see the gui and functionality getting as good as what you currently see on your screen. At first I thought I'd miss the tactile feeling of a physical fader but I don't. It's fairly responsive. And I'd bet it will get better.

The best early adoption experience I've had.

Different equipment here, but I'm very pleased with the capability of my iPad running V-Control Pro via WiFi. It replaces the Frontier Design Tranzport, which was starting to get a little flaky. So, I agree with you, using the tablet works very well.

Software: Cakewalk by Bandlab; Adobe Audition; Band-in-A-Box audiophile; Izotope Ozone; Encore; Melodyne; Win 10 Pro, 64-bit.

Hardware: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd; Roland Integra-7; TCE Finalizer; Presonus Central Station, Behringer X-Touch.  Home built i7 with 16 GB RAM, SSDs.

I don't think it's a lack of interest.... just not to may people here trying to do such things.....

Wireless control is pretty interesting and I'm sure one day it will be standard on just about everything.

"Root Hack on a kindle".... you see, I have no clue what that even means.... and even if you splained it, I'd probably still not know. I'll assume it's some sort of alteration to the OS in the kindle that lets you make it do other things that the mfg didn't want you to use it for... or something like that.
