Touching Up Bad Vocal Recordings

Anybody know of any good ways to mask to touch up bad resonant vocals in Cakewalk Sonar?
Any additional plug ins are welcome. I'm sort of tearing my hair out at making a small resonant voice recording from a voice recorder sound decent.
 
I tried the robot voice thing but I cant really add any depth to it or make it sound as full as I want. Tends to be very high end lacking a bit of the lower ends.

    How about trying out an octaver, say from Guitar Rig or some other guitar effect.. Just a suggestion, not having any experience doing it.

    I think it's the resonance and the lack of low end that's killing it really.. tried turning the bass up but even the bass is so resonant that I cant really see it being as usable for a voice recording (not singing, just post work and narration)

    Find the resonant frequencies and notch them out. The easiest way to do this is to set the EQ for a huge, narrow peak (turn down your monitors!!), then sweep. The resonant frequency will jump out at you, distort, and act nasty. Go from boost to cut. You may need to do this multiple times.
     
    Once you have the resonances tamed, then you can do general tone shaping.
