Track 2 out of sync with Track 1

Hi, new user here. I'm trying to do a 4 track audio project. Track 1 is just guitar, which I laid down with the metronome, and all went well. My problem comes with the vocal track, which is Track 2. When I listen to Track 1 with headphones and sing, all is well and I'm in time with the guitar. When I play back both tracks, however, the first verse of the vocals is all fine, but by the middle of the second verse my voice is "ahead" slightly of the guitar track. By the third verse, it's even worse. Is there either a trick to getting this right, or a way to fix it so that the second track is timed correctly with the first? Thanks for any help.

    Audio Recording should always sync.

    Probably a hardware problem.

Check the alignment of the Wav pictures in the tracks, and positioning of the clips.
If they don't line up, sonar is recieving the signal late.

Do some loop recordings of a cowbell played to the metronome, percussive instruments make it easier to check the positioning of the the recorded signal.

If you are trying to work with an onboard sound card, or a Soundblaster, you will be spending alot of time figuring out why things do not work correctly.

You can pick up an Edirol UA-25 for $250. I've had ZERO problems with my older model UA-5, and the newer version(UA-25) costs less and has more features.

The best is always yet to come. Now...shut up and make some noise!

For $180 I've had great luck with my M-Audio AP-192.
