Track Automation Question

Is there a way to maintain the track automation while recording a new track?
i.e.  Have some effects on/offs but want to re-record the track.

    Automation only applies to recorded data. Any track automation already there will still be there after you record a new clip, as long as you don't have automation-write enabled (the "W" button) while recording.


    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
