Track Editing Workflow Help?

Hey All,
 
I am using X2 and can get my work done but the workflow is not that smooth.
For instance, to split a wave I have to be in split mode. Then to edit the ends I have to switch to edit mode. It is such a slow down to have to switch tools.
 
Is there some kind of 'smart' edit tool that combines both modes?

    Try using the keyboard shortcut "S" to split the clip and use the smart tool for the rest

    Thanks for the keyboard shortcut.
     
     I think I found what I was looking for.
    Click Star labeled 'Smart' (duh I should have tried that before posting) then use the ALT key to momentarily activate split mode.

    Also you can use the F5, F6 & F7 keys to switch modes.
