Track Folder Problem--Producer 8.3.1

I had hoped the updates would fix this, but I still have the folder problems I had with 8.0.

Many of my tracks are in track folders for convenience. If I try to open a closed folder, the track view jumps to the end of the track list (way down, since I have a lot of tracks), and I have to scroll back up to see that the folder did not open.

Anybody else have that problem?

I might as well give an update, in case someone else ever encounters this.  The problem was caused by my using a Mackie Control Universal Pro--plus two extenders.  When the tracks in any closed folder correspond to tracks routed to any of the Mackie faders, the folder cannot be opened!  Instead, the tracks window jumps to the last track of the project when I click on the folders.

The way to get around this is to disable the Mackie Control one way or another (turn its power off--or delete from Options/control surfaces).  Then the folder can be opened.  This is obviously a BUG in SONAR.  There should be no problem opening or closing folders, regardless of whether or not the tracks are mapped to the Mackie Control.

The workaround for me is just to keep my track folders open.  This means, of course, that there is no point in using track folders with Mackie Control.

I'm also encountering this problem although it is intermittent and for me not necessarily on folders that are straddled by the Mackie control surface. Sometimes they may be adjacent to the Mackie mapped tracks.

You are right in that the only thing that stops it for me is switching the Mackie control surface (I use a BCF) to Buss or Master mode, then the track folders behave as expected. It's not control surfaces in general as I also use a PCR-800 and don't get any trouble with that at all.

Interesting. I too have had this problem occasionally, but never thought it was caused by my MCU. I'm right in the middle of setting up my new i7 system and will be checking this out as soon as I can. Thanks guys.

It's a very strange issue because I don't seem to be able to reproduce it consistently, although there must obviously be some common demoninators (other than the MCU surface). My latest theory is that if the folders have been opened prior to the Mackie mapping being assigned to the tracks they open okay - almost as if the Mackie 'knows' about them but gets confused if they haven't previously been  open, but TBH I'm stabbing in the dark.

Sometimes I get the problem even if the Mackie mapping is nowhere near the problem folder(s). The only consistent thing I've found so far is it is definitely fixed if the Mackie is mapped to the busses or master faders. Bizarre

To be honest, I thought it was due to a track template I had setup for EZ drummer that contained multiple outputs. Its the only folder I remember having this issue with and something I use in pretty well all my projects. I couldnt reproduce it consistently either. I could work with several projects and never see it, then all of a sudden, boom, it would happen. Very frustrating. I am hopefull that I dont see this on my new system, but you guys have given me a new avenue to explore if it does happen. I have posted in other threads regarding this issue, but it seemed very isolated to a select few of us.

It gets stranger. I was working on a project earlier this morning for about 4 or 5 hours and the strange 'jump to the bottom track while trying to open a folder bug' was a constant thorn in my side. Must have happened 20 or so times.

I've had a break and been working on the same project again (after a shut down) for about 3 hours and it's not happened once.

I'm sorry you folks also have this problem.  I had just given up on track folders, but will now also try to reproduce the issue.  Gotta be a bug, though, don't you think?  Are either of you using 8.5?  (I'm not.)
