[Track] Lost Fathers

It was "Fathers Day" in the UK yesterday, an event which was accompanied by mixed emotions for not only me I'm sure. This sort of captures my day...

Very nice work on the guitar parts, very authentic sounding, with the exception of the panning on it (personally I would drop that but thats me). The melodic work was superb. It ended quite abruptly and seemed a little short though, almost incomplete.

Thanks for sharing it, since it appears that fathers day has similar feelings for you as it does me.

Hey Trevor... That's a really beautiful track... very emotive, and well accomplished.
yeah... agree on the ending... slightly too short. As for the panning, it didn't strike me...

    excellent work there sheephead.
the hand off from the intro accoustic to the rest of the tune seemed just a tad off, but thats about all I can say.

    hey LS,

a very peaceful tune. Nicely put together - nice pads to thicken it out. I wasn't too keen on the intro but I liked the rest plenty. I thought the ending was fine.

    Nice track all told.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the comments guys

Stuart: I appreciate your input, but I am slightly concerned regarding you panning comments, if only because this is the second time! I'll be honest my output comes via a cheap Creative surround sound system with sub, but I've not usually had adverse comments on my stereo field or mixing. The speakers are set up to form that recommended equilateral triangle and Elemental Audio's Inspector wasn't flagging anything unusual. Could you elaborate a bit more on what you think is wrong so if necessary I can correct it?

Seb: Yes the ending was a bit abrupt but I sort of ran out of inspiration for finishing it. There again it also reflects what happens in life. (Sorry, going a bit OT there)

Pfunque: You are right, I should have spent a bit more time putting them together, which I might have done if it wasn't so late. (Spot the crap excuse. Can we still say crap here?)

Rich: How ya doin, you went missing there for a few months? Good to see you back. Thanks for the comments, guess I need to think about that intro a bit more.

Actually you do not notice it so much with speakers, due to cross talk, but on my cans the guitar moves around the stereo field, im getting it moving from about 50% left to 50% right. It only appears to be on the acoustic guitar. When listened to on phones its quite obvious and it sounds quite unnatural as an effect on an acoustic guitar. BTW how did you get that sound it is pure genius (unless of course you actually are playing an acoustic).

Stuart, problem solved. What you describe is almost certainly being caused by the Kjaerhus Classic Phaser with "spread" active. I hadn't listened with cans otherwise I might have picked it up. Thanks.

I've taken some really intense guitar lessons... ok, maybe not. It's actually MusicLabs RealGuitar 2L. I fell in love with it after installing the 30 day demo off CM's 100th edition DVD. It's never going to be 100%, but wow does it get close and its capable of so much more than you are hearing here. Cost me 139GBP but I think its worth every penny...

Very nice sounding track. The guitar sound was excellent and as another said, authentic sounding. Flute and guitar is a nice combination. A nice uplifting track. I agree the ending seemed a little abrupt but the trip there was nice.

a really nice one, Trevor. Sort of different from most of the stuff we listen to. The intro transition was a little rough, but the end, for me, worked. It might could be a little smoother, but don't ask me how. And I'm blown away by the faux guitar work. Very imatiative indeed.

And sometimes the message is more important than the technique.

Thanks for all the positive comments.

I've always liked acoustic guitar, but never really took to playing so this RealGuitar is a fantastic. I will post another track which is bit different but gives a different view.

    Hi Trevor,

The melodies were very pleasant. I like the combination of voices. This has a very live feel to it. The starts and stops, the slight accelerations, etc. really sounds like this comes from the heart.

    Nice work.

Oh yeah, but it ends too abruptly.
