Track Notes

I would like to suggest a feature for addition; inline notes for the tracks. As far as I am aware, this is not already a feature on Sonar. A clickable icon on the track bar that would bring up a small editable text box for track notes. It could even be colour coded to match the track, so they would look like a certain brand of sticky pad notes. This would be great for adding info on external gear such as synth patches, guitar settings, drum mic's  or vocal mic setup. Though all of the VST settings and samples are held on-board, I still have to write hardcopy notes for external info such as patches, routing or chord structures. How often did we used to see photos of analogue mixing desks in the old days, covered in a thick foliage of multi coloured sticky notes? An analogue throwback modernised.

Thanks Scook. I really should read my Sonar X1 book and watch all the videos I bought for the basics. I still think it would be great to have a dedicated button though, so the text box is floating and can be quickly opened and closed. Also if it operates from a button there would be less clutter on the screen. With the console and track displays on screen, space is at a premium. You would only momentarily display the individual (possibly colour coded) text box as required, if it was from a button. This would avoid having to expand the track lane or open the track tabs. The button would only need to be assigned to audio tracks and possibly external MIDI tracks.

I create a session track sheet manually. This contains track assignments, effects used and settings, notes etc. It would maybe be cool to be able to maintain and print something like that from within the sonar project. Might not be useful to all but would be handy for me.

I was just about to make pretty much the exact same feature request for sticky notes. Would be nice if they were treated similar to an automation lane, where you can put a note at a certain point in the track and it would have a little note icon on that part of the timeline that you can click and it'll pop out as the full note. Kind of like Soundcloud comments, I suppose, but per-track. Would be very useful if I wanted to make note of small things to remember, like if I was doing a direct-in recording but wanted to remember that when I record in the studio, that I want to let the amp feedback in a certain way at a certain point, or if I was sending the project file to a collaborator and they sent the file back with mix notes and other notes placed contextually within the track.
