Track View color preferences in X1C?
Track View color preferences in X1C? I just tried to make the darkness brighter and it still seems like many if not most of the color changes I make do not actually seem to "apply". Is it possible I am missing something? Or do those choices simply not work? Thanks. best regards, mike

Some don't. A sore spot for many of us. The Sonar Mods are one answer.

It's killing me. I never loaded the mods because I never wanted to be told I can't get support while using them. I had forgotten what X1 looked like because I haven't launched it in months. I loaded X1C and hoped to quickly make it brighter and less dark... and now I remember how much I dislike the black themed color scheme. Spending the past half hour attempting to prove to myself that the choices will actually effect change really highlighted the foolishness of my frustration. It is, evidently, too much for me to expect that a dialog box the purports to offer a choice actually effects some change. I've got to get used to this new way of doing things. I think I'll use a disc image to go back to November 2010 and call it quits. best regards, mike

If you are talking about the audio and MIDI tracks those can be colored as you like. The over all color of the window and other parts can't be. Even the mods can't do anything to the color of the window frame. The mods wont harm anything as long as the right one is used. And you can still do some color tweaks. Its not as bad as if there were no mods around and I am not that put off by the stock X1 color. But I do use the mods. I prefer the Darkside mod. Which is far darker then X1 stock.

Here's mine Mike - all colour coded in Track View (and the same colours in Console View). Basiclally, it's just red for MIDI, yellow for Audio and green for Busses. It's a long way from how I had 8.5 set up and it's far from ideal, but it helps me get around!

X1 was unusable until the mods came. With the Darkside mod, I no longer get headaches trying to use X1's default color scheme.

Yeah. I'd say theres no X1d so Colours will remain broken... Sore spot indeed. Anyway I still love CW but X1 made a few mistakes IMHO ;<

I tend not to worry too much about the overall look. Never have done but I do use colour to make track recognition etc easier. Most of that still works thankfully but out of the non-working ones the "active track" is top of my wish list.

Great minds must think alike. That's the colour I've got it in my X1 preferences but as you know the rest of X1 ain't playing.

So they in fact do not apply! Man I thought I was being dumb so didn't ask about it here lol. Makes me feel better... for some reason. Still tho, their colour scheme sucks when it comes to folder separation so colour-editing is definately a necessity.

How do you mean your "folder line". That's not the folder background your talking about, is it? 'cause I couldn't get that to change. Mahlon

No the dash line that 'joins' the tracks in a folder. Having said that I think I did change the folder background once but didn't like it. I'll check later.

I think I'll use a disc image to go back to November 2010 and call it quits. best regards, mike Mike, I didn't go crazy with the mods here. But the ones I did use were incredible and safe to install and uninstalled without a hitch if you needed to try and trouble shoot something. That skin editor looks killer, but it seemed a bit too involved for me so I never tried it. But the Panu .dll mod for color and the Benstat Plus mod are absolute necessities for me. I'm really having a hard time understanding why there wasn't more option control for us in X1 on its own. But definitely give those mods a shot when they come up with X1c versions. Honest you won't regret it. If you have an issue, revert back and see if it's the mod causing the problem. All my issues had nothing to do with any of the mods and were legit issues others had reported already. But just to be sure, I got rid of the mods to test and to make even more sure, I did a complete uninstall and then reinstalled everything only to have the same issues...which have since been fixed with the hotfix patches. I will say this though...as much as I found it a bit upsetting not to have these options available within the program, I'm glad the Bakers haven't given our mod boys any flack because they really have helped me to enjoy X1 way more than I would without their incredible mods. The Dark Side color theme along with my other color mods that X1 allows makes it perfect for me color wise...so I have no issues there. The Sonar plus toolbar just makes my life so much easier having all those options at my disposal. One I use like mad that really annoyed me that Cake did away with is the tempo tap option being no longer visible. I use that so much it's crazy man. It's also nice to have options and buttons for what YOU want to see depending on how you use the program. The good thing for me is, X1 works well for how *I* use it and the stability is really good. I've not had a chance to put X1c totally through any tests yet, but I'm hoping it's just as stable and reliable. Time will tell. :) -Danny
