Can anyone recommend a track ball please?

I use a logitech trackball (the one with the blue ball.) It is a simple one without a lot of bells and whistles, but it gets the job done. It is a thumb controlled one (i.e. you move the ball with your thumb.)

Are you guys using the Kensington with Bluetooth or wired?
To those using the Bluetooth one is there any lag? Or other issues.

Speaking of taking care of thy ball. Is the trackball prone to becoming greasy from constant digital contact?
Just thinking like old mice used to pick up crap from your mouse pad or desktop, then they invented laser/optical mice and no more dirty balls.

Yes, they can pick up crap. It usually ends up on the bearings, but on the logitech, you just pop the ball out and wipe the crap off the bearings with you finger. Usually when I do this, I wipe the ball off, too. Not a big deal.

It is pretty nice, especially once you get muscle memory for automation/fader moves. For awhile, I kept my mouse and trackball plugged in and used the mouse for navigation, but I finally gave it up and disconnected it. Regards, Dan

Anyone have that $29 model? I think I'm going to go back to wired keyboards. They still put P/S2 on motherboards.

My brain is all in knots now trying to figure out what to do with what.
I've only just got my 27" touch screen working so want to keep that for left hand (man that's difficult) and the trackball at my right hand and of course keyboard for shortcuts. Glad I'm not under any pressure to get something done. Except fix my dead server which I think did an hd in during a brownout the other night.

Lol...you'll figure out what works best for you after a bit. To me, the best thing about this particular trackball is when you enable a sticky click and all you have to do is ride the ball as a fader (or other CC controller) with the tips of your fingers. I could never go back to a mouse after that... Regards, Dan
