Track freeze disappear!

OK, I'm stumped! I have an older project that I made with all soft synths made using "simple instrument track" (the one that's just 1 track that changes from MIDI to audio when u freeze.) I am trying to copy MIDI data from one of those tracks to one in a new project which I made using MIDI Source checked and Simple UNchecked (makes audio & MIDI trax in folder.) Data copies fine but when I freeze new track, audio data does not appear! Ideas?
