Track gone silent, mystery icon in Track View...

A stereo audio track has stopped outputting sound.  I checked all the usual stuff.

A small, light green block has appeared between the Track Pane and the Clips Pane that I've never seen before:

What is it?  Does it help solve the mystery?

The green light indicates that you have layers on the track (that aren't visible at the moment) and one of them at least is muted. Almost certainly the current one which is why you can't hear anything. Click the "show layers" icon just to the right of the numeric peak indicator (-62.3) and then you'll see the layers and can solo/unmute as required.

Have you muted the clip accidentally? I'm at work right now but I think the pressing K mutes an individual clip.

Sorry FBB... our posts crossed in the erm... post

No need to apologise, your answer will be the other possibility I should have mentioned anyway.

FBB... you were right ;^) ...

Okay... I've just finished scouring the 1850 page reference guide (phew!) and the bit we are looking for, regarding muted or soloed hidden layers, is covered on pages 357 to 359.

According to the guide, a yellow indicator shows that a hidden layer is soloed, whereas, if a hidden layer is muted, the indicator is blue. I am wondering if there is a little error there, because when you look at the accompanying pictures, the indicators both appear to be light green.

Anyway... it's there in the guide, and it's worth having a quick look at those pages

cheers

Thanks FFB and synkotron for the responses; you were right; I had inadvertantly muted the individual layers.  All is well.

Now, about this 1850 page reference guide, I don't believe that I've seen such a document.  I assume that you're not talking about the on-line help pages, nor Mr. Garrigus' fine SONAR X1 Power! guide, which I keep handy (but which weighs in at a modest 506 pages).  Where can I obtain a copy of this monster?!?

Hi Jonesey,

The manual I refer to, and that can be downloaded from that link, is a PDF version. I also use the F1 help file, but I find that when I want to help people here, it is easier to point to a page number, which I don't think you can do with the CHM help file.

To be honest, I thought that we all got the PDF manual along with our install files, but my brain could be failing me there, yet again. I'd still recommend downloading the 1850 page version of the reference guide, even though it does repeat itself, a number of times. And you can still search the document if you need to find something in particular.

Thanks, synk.  It's nice to have the PDF for those times when navigating the integrated F1 help (.chm) is not getting you to the specific info you're seeking.

Also nice for dipping into SONAR-land whenever your SONAR-loaded machine is not available.

I did already have the file from the initial X1 installation; I just overlooked it.
