Track templates don't load
As the title of the thread says. I don't have a clue what's going on - but after many years of using track templates; both those I've created myself and stock Cakewalk track templates, I select the desired one but nothing happens, I've tried inserting them from every screen and from every menu and lots of screen flashing happens but no tracks get inserted Have I disabled something. I'm running SONAR X1D Expanded and nothing on my computer has changed.

I have had somewhat the same issue...only it causes X1 to crash...I posted a day or so ago, but got no responses....really odd...hopefully someone will shed some light on it for us this time around! David

There are just so many possibilities for things to go into the ditch here. Is there a chance that you can post the template somewhere so that I could get a look at what it might be?

i would start by making a new templete and see if it takes.
as well when your saving your templetes see where your old ones are located and in the same directory..
but heres the most important thing...
make sure the file ext. is still the same .CWX
you may have been working with another type of file and opened it in notepad,exc, and changed the format of your templete.
thats all i got.

You already have the templates. They come with SONAR. It's any track template whether I made it myself or is one of the scores of included one.

did you check the extension?
because realisticaly i see no other reason why the templete wouldnt work.
i usualy insert my track templetes from an empty space in the track view right where the track boxes are.
i right click/choose insert track templete and follow the menus arrow and they are all right there working fine.
im not saying you havent done this or you dont know how to do this because i know you do.
there can only be two things.
1.wrong extention(or maybe corrupt files.)
2.what ever is accepting the templetes value in sonar is not working correctly.
have you tried a reboot of your computer?
i know sometimes this wipes out any strange settings that may be held on by sonar in random memory untill a full reboot
power off-power on.
what have you got to lose?

I have all the templates.
I know which folder they are in.
I can see them all, as they appear in the selection window when I select Insert Track Template either from the menu or right click in track view.
They are all filed with the correct extension ie .cwk. If they weren't they wouldn't be available for selection. I have also checked in Windows Explorer to confirm.
I'm at a loss. It's sure been a while since I used Track Templates but never had a problem in the past.
Looks like its time for a re-installation. Something must be corrupt. Yippee!
I even undid panup's mod just in case. But nada.

I'm right with Mudgel on this one...it is very odd. I wonder if this is due to an a Microsoft update? Security Essentials Update? I am really not happy about this....

outside of sonar, navigate to the folder, right click on one.. perhaps it's not associated with sonar. that's the first thing I'd look at..

Mine do load but when I create a new one with multiple synths it only loads 1 of the synths. I wrote to cakewalk support twice never received an answer. Contacted Roland Uk and I sent the template for testing. Told they would be back to me by evening. A week now and no reply. I guess I can live without multiple synths in track templates. Too much hassle to install all the software again. If anyone on here could create a template with 3 instances of Dimension Pro and save and reopen please let me know if it works or not for you.

I'd be pretty sure it's to do with the association of it OR it's not seeing the file as the right extension.. which is odd do you use registry cleaners etc ? that might have removed the entry for it (barring ccleaner, as thats good as gold) failing that, I'd do a custom install of just the program .. and hopefully it'll fix the things that are missing (perhaps registry wise)

It is the weirdest thing. When I load a complex template the Win 7 hour glass goes into action - obviously things are happening, but no tracks appear. If I load a template for which I don't have the plugin even the appropriate dialog box opens to warn me but again no tracks appear.
I've just reinstalled the X1D (Expanded) patch and made sure that the files have their correct associations but still not working.
Looks like I'll have to do a full uninstall and reinstall. Being between house moves I don't even know if I have easy access to my discs. Interesting times ahead.
