Tracks jumping off time....
On tracking & playback once the song get to around measure 30 or so all the tracks begin to fall out of sync. Anyone else experience this and have any suggested solutions?

Which version of sonar are you running?there was a known issue with timing in earlier versions.

In "preferences" what is listed as the record and playback timing masters? I'm guessing its the ff800; are both (playback/record) set to the same thing? Tom

What is the sampling rate for both SONAR and the interface?

You're thinking he's got one at 48k and the other at 44.1k. Check that. Trying "syncing" to chan 1, not to the ADAT. T

I'd suggest also checking View Tempo. Bring up the Tempo window and watch the line around measure 30. If it has a jag in the line around there, select the eraser tool and erase the jag. You might have not realized you added a tempo change. It can happen, so just offering that as something to check for.

I've had this happen on occasion. I've never been able to figure out a cause. I just get around it by scraping the project and starting a new one. Every time it's happened -not too often, it always seems to be when I'm starting a new project and have a couple of tracks down and for some reason the first track I record - usually rhythm guitar, will not stay in time with the MIDI drum track on playback.

it seems to be only the percussion & Bass tracks from my Fantom. I'm about to re-track them and see what happens..... I re-tracked the bass and it seems fine now. Re-tracking percussion now

So I just tried tracking a cowbell to see how it was going to act and it's jumping off again. I'm thinking it's more the RME because I'm getting that digital static (the only way I know how to describe it) before it happens.

Hi Five0SixBand, In this scenario since MIDI is slowly drifting I suspect the clock source for the RME is set to something other than internal (perhaps ADAT/SPDIF or Word). Open Preferences - Audio - Driver settings and click on the ASIO panel button. In the Fireface tab set the clock source to internal. You may need to switch your digital devices (i.e. the Ramsa board) to clock to the RME to prevent digital distortion. Hope this helps.
Thanks! Daniel Cate [Cakewalk]

Hi, SanderXpander
Yes I have the latest firmware
Dan,
I typically before starting any project set the Sonar clock & the RME clock to internal. Also to clarify these are audio tracks not midi. Unfortunately Roland did not update the drivers for my Fantom to work with windows 8.1. Will double check my DA7 settings also tho I'm bypassing it as of now until I begin tracking live drums and such. Just trying to get to the bottom of this before starting my live instrument & vocal tracking. I can afford to re-track programmed instrument takes but having to re-track live takes would kill my sessions and the creative process.
