Tracks not in sync
Okay, I know next to nothing about digital audio. Thus, I am in this forum to learn. Now, my issue is that whenever I record a track and then record a second track, the second track, over time, loses timing. So, my two track recording sounds like some old Bruce Lee movie with the dubbing off. I have no idea what to do about this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

do you have a soundblaster sound card? if so, change your sampling rate to 48kHz instead of 44.1kHz. if that's not the case, then we need to know more about your system, your soundcard, your version of MC - everything you can give us.

Well, I am sort of a novice to all this hard ware stuff. But this is what I could find out. Computer is an Acer Aspire 5570Z laptop. OS is Windows Vista Music Creator 4.2.2 The soundcard is Realtek High Definition Audio. I could not find any type number or anything, but then again, I am new to this tech stuff. Sorry if that does not help, but hopefully I can put more up later.

I have the same problem.Tracks go out of sync about 1 minute into the tune. Machine is an AMD 64 2.4 gig 1 gig dual chanel ram plenty of hard drive Sound Blaster X-Fi audio I use a Barringer mixer to run it all to the sound card. I am running in MME driver mode otherwise the play back is crappy. I tried switching the sample rate to 48khz and that seemed to make it worse. Also when i am recording, the level indicators on the console are a bit behind me actually strumming a cord or hitting a note. Even the drum machine lags behind. Any sugestions or input would be greatly apreciated.....

you could try ASIO4ALL for the SB card. http://www.asio4all.com download and install asio4all, then change to ASIO driver mode. OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVERMODE = ASIO close and restart MC

See, I would have told them to go and get a good sound card/interface, but Beagle saves the day! Way to go. That's why they pay you the BIG BUCKS!

with a sigma tel soundcard you need to use MME driver mode. what do you mean by "double recording option"?

Thanks. I will try this When i said double recording option, i didn't mean it was an option i could click on, i meant the process of recording separate tracks.

OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVERMODE I looked here first, but there is no DRIVERMODE. I looked around some more and was unable to find anything about MME. I don't know if i screwed something up on my program or not. Sorry for any delayed responses. I do not have internet on my computer right now. In Ohio we say Double Recording. We also say Pop, instead of Cola.

Cakewalk Music Creator 2003 I think maybe for MC2003 there's only a check box somewhere that says "Always use MME driver mode" but that's old sofware and I've never used it and I don't know exactly where to find that option.

New member here. I have sync issues also when trying to add an audio track to a midi project. I have 10 midi tracks and I am trying to use an audio track to record the midi tracks as stereo audio, but when I hit record, the recording takes place, but studders at random jumps. I have kx audio driver and my soundcard is an sboo92 audigy I think. I tried beagle suggestions about letting MC4 use MME and analyze my setup...it says everything is OK, but results are the same on the timing. I have a Pentium 3 with about a gig of RAM using XP Pro. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !

we'll need a little more info. P3, what speed? and what version of MC are you using? your soundcard is SB Audigy? you might need to try the ASIO4ALL driver. go to http://www.asio4all.com download and install the driver, then change to ASIO driver mode: OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED>DRIVER MODE = ASIO close and restart MC

OK, I downloaded the ASIO driver and installed. When I go to Options, Audio, Advanced I see the ASIO listed in the dropdown, but when I select it and then hit OK, I get an error telling me that there was an error in a parameter on the page. I set up ASIO in the Control Panel per instructions and it shows that it is enabled. I must be missing something here......

Close and re-open MC. See if that will let you select it.

not sure then why it doesn't work. you might have to use the MME driver mode. try changing to that, close and restart MC, then let the wave profiler run when it asks

I reinstalled Music Creator 4, and the menu will still not let me save the ASIO setting. One thing I noticed though was that I don't have an aud.ini file, or a cakewalk.ini file......is this normal ??

why do you say you don't have an aud.ini file? I'm sure you do, you may just be looking for it in the wrong place. with MC4 it's in My Documents/Cakewalk/Music Creator MC won't open without an aud.ini file. it will create one if one doesn't exist. if it won't let you change to ASIO or MME, then that's a different problem. Thank you for contacting Cakewalk Technical Support. Please try the attached reset utility. If that alone fails, please go to your Windows Start Menu and click "Run". At the prompt, type or paste the following: %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK This will open a folder in Windows Explorer. Find the folder named "Music Creator 4". Right-click on it and choose "rename". Change the folder's name to the following: "Music Creator 4 backup" Launch Music Creator 4 again and allow it to recopy the application data. Before you launch MC4. Please download this driver mode utility. http://www.cakewalk.com/support/sonar/drivermode.zip You can use it to launch SONAR in a different driver mode such as ASIO.
