Transient Marker Question

I'm working to learn the audio side better and have stated to look at audiosnap and transients - and immediately ran into a puzzle.  Long story short - I have a fresh project with two audio tracks.  Track 1 comes from a midi track bounced to audio from another project, track 2 consists of a stock audio clip dragged in from the browser (FB_110LF# _LP15.rx2, if you're interested).

The puzzle is that with the edit filter of each track set to "Audio Transients", I clearly see the transient markers in track 1, and not in track 2, and no amount of clicking will reveal the markers there.  I have to guess that Sonar sees a difference between the two data types, even though they are both audio.  Can you tell me the difference and why I can't (apparently) work on transient markers on audio clips from the browser?

Thanks.

The clip in track 2 is a REX file, which is a form of Groove clip and meant to be looped. Meaning, you can click and drag the edges of the clip to quickly create multiple copies. These clips are not compatible with AudioSnap because they are already being stretched to the project tempo.

If you want to use AudioSnap on that clip, select the clip and choose Clips > Bounce to Clip(s) from the Track view menu to convert it to a regular audio clip.

Thanks Scott.  Just what I wanted to know, and so complete and crystal clear.  You should write a book.

Speaking of books (thanks for the unintentional segue kelsoz), how does the patch (X1b) delivery schedule affect your publishing schedule Scott?

I, for one who has pre-ordered, would find it perfectly acceptable to have a later pub date to facilitate an up-to-date book.

Hi Kelsoz and Katherine... thanks for mentioning the book... which will be out in February but is available for pre-order now:

Not to worry... the material is being written with the coming bug fixes in mind. Also, Cakewalk is doing the tech editing for the book, so you can be sure the info will be technically accurate.

    Thanks!
