Transpose / Key+ Parameter - How to add to "All" or "Custom" view?
I don't see the "Key+" parameter (for transposing tracks) in the track parameter list anymore, for either "All" or "Custom". How do we add it back? (NOTE: It's available via the inspector, but I prefer to not have to use the inspector).

Do you think this is something that can be accomplished via one of the .ini files? Or is Sonar X1 different?

Do you mean the inline transpose controls? If so, they are in the Inspector's MIDI page for Instrument tracks, and are right there for MIDI tracks.

Yes, the transpose controls. I see them in the inspector, but since I never [normally] use the inspector, I'd love to see them back in the main track view like they are for 8.5.3 and all previous versions.

Has anyone found a way to add the transpose/key+ back into the track view?

In older versions of Cakewalk we were able to select track parameters via the "[MIDI Widgets]" section in the cakewalk.ini. I don't see that section in the X1 cakewalk.ini.

Ugh. This is super annoying! I have an old track that I have to now transpose, and whereas I used to be able to use my arrow keys to change all the track transpositions really quickly (change, move down, change, move down, etc) I'm having to move my mouse a whole lot (change, drag my mouse over to select the next track, drag my mouse over to double-click in the "Key+" parameter, change, drag my mouse over to select the next track, drag my mouse over to double-click in the "Key+" parameter, change, etc). So Cakewalk, please add my vote for putting this and ALL other parameters back into the track view IF we want it there!

The fastest method for doing transpose is to select the track/tracks that you want to transpose, Go to Process - Transpose and you can do a whole song at once.(I usually select all Midi and then while holding Control deselect the Drum track/s).

I don't disagree, but there are still reasons for having an instantaneous transpose function, and that still doesn't change the fact that it really SHOULD be an option in the customizable track pane widgets! I've been using Cakewalk products since version 4 for DOS, and I've used every single version since, and most of those parameters that they moved so that they're only in the Inspector have been in the track pane (or it's ancestor) in EVERY version since! There has been a lot of ****ing at Cakewalk for messing with a good thing, and I feel like much of it is undeserved... But not this one! Part of Sonar's power lies in its customizability, and it really bugs me that they changed this aspect of the interface.

Having transposition be a property of a track makes it easy to move notes between instruments that play an octave off from each other. For instance, my Triton plays an octave lower than General Midi instruments, so if I want to switch between a Triton bass patch and a Dimension pro bass patch, I find it easier to move (or copy) the clips to a different track (with a +/- 12 key offset) than to select then entire track and process the transposition (and remember to do that only once). Also, if you want play your keyboard an octave lower, the easiest way is to set that track property. Having to play an octave too high, and then transpose later, compromises the performance. Of course, since the inspector lets us transpose a track, we in theory should not be grumbling, but it sure is painful to have a frequently-used feature disappear or become harder to use, as this one has. My guess is that Cakewalk just didn't know which features people found handy and which ones never got used, and made assumptions based on developers' and/or newbies' preferences. This of course makes us long-time Cakewalk supporters feel "dissed". Hence the ****ing.

Here's the place to make a formal feature request: http://www.cakewalk.com/s...ct/featurerequest.aspx Incidentally, I'd settle for having the Ctrl work with the Key+ widget in the Inspector to alter all selected tracks like it does with most other widgets.

If I'm going to transpose MIDI in the inspector with the mouse, I would prefer to have + and - controls rather than having to drag that bar across. It's a little unresponsive and sometimes it's hard to settle on the number of semitones you want the first time.

one of the best solutions for this is to insert the transpose plugin on the midi track. it gives several options for transposing notes including custom keymaps so that you could really go hog wild if you want. Gotta remember though the keymappings are hardcoded to read c0 to c10 (wish it would read the base octave for pitches setting). Also with it was automatable, but it's still a nice tool. :D

one of the best solutions for this is to insert the transpose plugin on the midi track. That's still a lot of work for multiple tracks, and MIDI FX cause trouble with looping (notes from measure after the loop get played back at the beginning of each iteration).

funny, when i put midifx in the midi clip, looping problems cease. weird glitch like midi looping in matrix view.
