Tree Of Wisdom

This is one I tracked last night on acoustic bouzouki. I haven't had time lately to mix in depth midi stuff, so the direct tracking will have to do for now. It has elements of A mixolodian. The parts are intended to weave in and out of each other. The idea is more of a journey in music. IOW if you were looking for a strong VCVC it isn't there. 6/8 time. AA/BB is more the structure. Has strong Irish underpinning, yet it isn't really totally Irish. This was all done in one evening. Probably sounds like it too. I have no musical shame

A pint of Guinness and a bloke in the corner playing a Bodhran is all this needs to complete the wonderful Irish feel.

You are a wise man indeed - certainly no shame here.

Thanks for sharing.

Good Job!

Sounds good Tim, very evocative. A great deal of traditional instrumental music is just an A section and a B section so you're in good company.

i've heard you use the bouzouki before,
even tho it's typically a greek instrument,
i think any strings on anything, lends itself to any style, with the right touch.
hearing celtic with bouzouki, is a bit weird for me ( i used to play in a greek band! ) but i think it totally works.
this is a bit of a mindless round and round,
but it's quite pleasant.
maybe take the best little pieces of the entire jam,
and put it together with a lyric in a proper song format,
and you will have dialed it in with this grouping of instruments

I'm with Bats here Tim: I think you've got the makings of something special here, just needs more fleshing out, IMO.

Thank you gentlemen for your gracious comments. I wish I had more time to play with this in the DAW. Probably not for a little while yet.
Bat interesting take on the zouk. Mine is the Irish type with four courses and tuned in D. The Greek one has only three courses and might be tuned different.
To make it even more complicated I capod it and played in A.

yea, different than the greek sound,
but the sound of those skinny strings on that big gourd.... perfect.
you could put that 'sound' on almost anything that has an acoustic element,
i could even hear it on a tune like a zeppelin acoustic tune,
in place of the mandolins.
hm..........

Recorded really well! It's a real nice tune. If you intend to work on it further, I would add some variety like a couple of different movements. Good as is though.

A bouzouki - I had to look that up.  This has a very relaxing feel to it - I could picture myself in a pub listening to this - dancing with a beautiful Irish woman  I listened to it a couple of times - nice job.  The only crit, and I'm no expert in this type of music - it could have used a middle eight as a change - hope that makes sense.

+1 to the above - I'd love to hear this fleshed out a bit.   But what you already have is a warm, authentic piece with lots of feel.   Love that bouzouki...
