Jeff, I thoroughly enjoyed this on my headphones. Great job on the whole project........very nicelyplayed & mixed.
What did you use for the choir and what synths did you use for this?

Thanks, Mesh. I used East West Symphonic Choirs (with their Word Builder). My gosh (trying to remember), I used a bunch of mostly soft synths/samplers. Guitar's were Prominy LPC, some of the lead synth was Z3ta+ and I am sure I used some Atmosphere in there too. Drums were EZ Drummer. I think I might have used the EMU EXtreme Lead as well. Hey Jeff, Prog Rock my favorite. Like the choirs, when the music finally kicked in reminded me of Forever Autum (Jeff Wayne).
It's well played, the mix is ok but it needs to go somewhere. I like the ELP keyboard flourishes but ultimately I was left a little meh. When doing Prog Rock, think King Crimson and not ELP or even Yes. Don't get me wrong love Elp but ELP had this same problem that is some of their tunes not really going anywhere. Where as Crimson never had this problem.

i like the arrangement, and the whole thing, but the guitars sound fake to me for some reason.
i recognize the drums (i use ezdrummer and superior drummer) and i get that the keys are samples and whatnot, but there is something weird about the guitar...
how did you record them?
is it fractal?
impulses?
great mix, fun to listen to

Thanks, everyone. Notnat, Prominy LPC is a sample library that is formatted for use in Kontakt, There are a huge number of of samples with different articulations. The programming (scripts, etc) often allow you to play various articulations (using key switches, pitch bend, velocity to trigger harmonics, etc) so you can get some realistic parts when playing in real time (I would often slow the piece down to get the part right). Thanks! Yeah, I think this really sounds best through headphones. I tend to think the same thing about a lot of my favorite music in thei genre, like Rush's La Villa Strangiato and Don Dorsey's BachBusters (fugue from Taccota and Fugue in D minor). Not that I am comparing.
