Trigger start of a track using MIDI

Hi all,

I'm really struggling to understand something.....

I have Sonar X3, EzDrummer 2 and a Virus Ti.

My aim is simply to be able to create a drum track using EzDrummer 2 and then trigger the start of that track with a keypress on the virus Ti - is this possible? I'm assuming it is but when googling nothing comes up which makes me think I'm thinking about this all wrong. Surely you can start a track playing with a keypress on a MIDI keyboard?!

I just don't get it - any help or advice would be MOST appreciated !!! :)

Kind Regards

Richard.

Maybe the MIDI form of "key bindings" is what you want:
Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard (Advanced)
(Check help for this) Choose MIDI under "type of keys", check  "Enabled" and note the "shift" operation. I.e. a keyboard note or controller is configured to activate interpretation of notes that have been configured as shortcuts (key bindings).
