Tripod mic stand "Stupid deal" of the day today... I almost fulfilled the "stupid" part...

OK, I thought GREAT I can use that... the user reviews are good and it must be a good price... it is the "stupid deal of the day", it has to be a great deal, right????

NO...

... I have learned to check around before buying one of these "great" deals. Music 123 sells it for 39.99 everyday, or at least today they do.
In fact a lot of people do... http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dmi&field-keywords=ProLine+MS220+Tripod+Boom+Microphone+

Here is an On-Stage version for 22.99 http://www.amazon.com/Stage-Stands-7701B-Tripod-Microphone/dp/B000978D58/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1314816631&sr=1-1

Well, a whole bunch of better deals: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dmi&field-keywords=Tripod+Boom+Microphone+stand

I have pretty much learned to look before I leap. I still tend to buy some things I dont really need... (GAS) but I have learned that sometimes the only thing stupid about the deal is ME... if I bite.

I took a look and it seems like you are comparing the venerable Konig and Meyer 210B (which is sold under several distribution names) to a bunch of lighter weight and cheaper models.

It's one of their $59.99 mic stands on sale for $39.99.

If I didn't have a roomful of them already...  it sure seems like a great price.

    best regards,
    mike

    Julien,

Mike's right.  You have to compare like to like, not kind.  A good mic stand will last.  I've still got some 1980's mic stands going strong.  It delivers a vintage sound ;-)  I haven't looked at your specific deals, but a heavy, old-fashioned stand, esp. on sale, is always a good deal.  It is like mic or any other cables.  No matter how many you have, you are always one short.
