I like how the fourth movie is called "The Final Chapter" yet there are eight(!) more that follow it - lol.

I love those cheesy movies. Well, the first 4 anyway. The 6th isn't all that bad either. That being said, it's more of a sentimental thing than a proof that the movies are actually any good.

No, but I did see the far too long in the tooth comeback attempt...........Monday the 16th. It was part of a triple bill with Rocky 15 and die hard 4.

For some reason I thought it was infinitely further away than that.

I remember watching one of those horrible Friday the 13th movies once with some friends.

It was so bad that I burst out laughing during one of the ridiculous scenes that was supposed to be scary or horrifying or whatever. They all looked at me sort of weird and sort of kept one eye on me at all times after that.

But I took care of it eventually.

I don't recall a single scary or horrifying scene in those movies. They're pretty funny, though.

Only movie that ever scared me was the Exorcist - which my über Catholic grandma had me watch w/ her when I was 12... The trap to the attic was right in front of my room, and there were plenty of strange noises up there on windy nights (which was every night). Took me a while to get a good night of sleep after that, and I had nightmares for years.

Good thing is that nothing ever scared me after that. Friday the 13th was all fun. :)

My biggest scare in movies is The Shining. I suspect it would still scare me today. The Lovely Lady has never seen it. We're talking about seeing together.

I only saw the Exorcist about five years ago for the first time.  I laughed through most of it.

Hmm...  I can't think of a movie that scares me though I know there are some.  Oh well, I'm sure a name or two will come to me later.

Me I "exorcised" myself by watching the movie hundreds of times. When I was sixteen, me and my best buddy used to rent movies every weekend and we'd pick the Exorcist as our freebie every week - until I bought it. We used to watch entire scenes on slow motion. I also read the book a dozen time.

I remember having a younger friend watching it years later - he'd never seen it, and his reaction was that it wasn't scary at all. And that's when I understood that the context in which I'd watched it was at least as important as the movie itself.

I mean, my grandmother being deeply religious, demonic possession was a really serious risk. Plus we lived in this odd place - not only were there crosses and religious artefacts everywhere in the house but we lived right in front of the cemetery, with the church and the funeral home close by. There weren't any kids in the neighbour, so I was brought up in a environment that was abundant in symbols of death and religion.

Plus nowadays, on DVD and with high resolution, it's pretty easy to spot all the tricks. But back in the old VHS days, it was a lot more disturbing.

Unfortunately, by the time I saw the Shining, I was immune. But I enjoyed it tremendously, though.

"The Exorcist" tickled my funny bone too. Just too corny to be scary. I remember think "Whatever bro" when I watched it. Blair Witch falls into that category too- beyond the realms of plausibility. Come on guys, follow the stream down hill and you'll escape!!!
