Trouble Converting MIDI to Audio

The problem that I need to fix involves converting Midi to audio. I have attempted to follow the instructions that Cakewalk gives in the "Help" section, but when I attempt to set the "Input" on the Audio track to my soundcard, it does not show up.

This problem is solved by switching the driver mode from MME to WDM/KS, but then another problem arrises. Then, the program shows the sound card as a potential input, but does not allow me to select it (it has a menu, but it won't expand).

It may not be relevant, but my soundcard is a SigmaTel Audio card and my Midi Playback is Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.

Is there a way for me to fix my problems to let me record the MIDI?

Work thru tutorial #8 and it will instruct you on how to use softsynths instead of the MS GS WAVETABLE synth (which are much better sounds anyway)
then work thru Tutorial #4 and it will instruct you on how to BOUNCE TO TRACK(S) instead of recording the MIDI onto an audio track like you're trying to do now.
