Trouble Installing X3 From Discs

Hi
Having trouble installing X3 from discs.  The forum won't let me upload a screen image of the problem for some reason, so I'll describe as best I can.
During installation a box appears saying:

C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\APRO.chm
An error occurred while trying to copy a file:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel instillation.

I clicked 'Retry' and my computer has frozen each time I try this.
I am installing X3 over X2 using the 'Advanced' install, omitting 'Session Drummer 3' and Studio Instrument Suite' as I already have these on my computer.  Is this where I'm going wrong?
Any suggestion would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks in anticipation
Alan

I installed mine from the DVD just last night, without issue.

Physically check the disc for damage - give it a good clean & try again.

If it still fails, I'd contact the vendor. Who did you buy it from? Was it a sealed box like it should be?

Did you specifically run the installer with Run As Administrator clicked?  If not, try right-clicking on the installer program and clicking on Run As Administrator and see if that fixes things for you.

Hi Guys
Reporting back.  I followed both suggestions.
1st I checked the disc for damage and gave it a clean.
2nd I right-clicked on the installer program and clicked on Run As Administrator.
Pleased to report it worked, fully installed and just updated to X3b.
Many thanks for your help guys.

I honestly do not know why the read me doc doesn't include that in clearer terms.

Anyways - glad to hear you now have all kinds of fun new ways to while away the hours, playing with the shiny new toys.....
