Trouble with Exporting
When I export a mixdown the only thing that I get is the audio files. You have to render all midi to audio before you can export a mix? I tried to render the midi to audio but I'm not seeing how... My soundcard doesn't have a loopback feature. Bounce to clips made my midi track using the arp into having the arp pattern printed in midi. Bounce to tracks told me I don't have any audio tracks selected in all those midi tracks that I want to render. So I need help turning midi into audio also! How do I make a test mix to export and hear on another machine? Missing something... (a few marbles?} Thanks

You should not need to bounce or render anything before exporting. You may if you wish but it is not necessary. Review your bounce settings. You probably want it to look like the example on page 164 of the reference guide pdf except "Bit Depth" should be 16.

Simple question. Do you have your MIDI track audio tracks selected when you export or bounce to tracks? The audio tracks associated with a MIDI track have to be selected as well as the actual MIDI track when doing either exporting or bouncing.

all you need to do is select one complete audio track and select the preset WHAT YOU HEAR and you will get exactly that. I have a habit of double clicking and selecting ALL the tracks and I still use the WYH preset. Never failed me yet.

I'll have to try that what you hear thing. But I got it working. I selected main outs instead of master for the source, that got the midi in there. Strange. The other day I noticed the driver wasn't in ASIO mode and switched it to ASIO. Then my only choice was this generic asio driver. I've been using it but I guess I'll see if there's a proprietary driver for the KA6 interface. I thought I had installed one but may be not. I'm reading some things about their ASio driver, I'll see if there's an update.

You have 2 choices - either select All (ctrl + a) or select None (Ctrl + Shift + a) Also, using Entire Mix as your output can cause problems in certain circumstances. Use Main Outs.

tacman7 When I export a mixdown the only thing that I get is the audio files. Try unticking "Fast Bounce". It doesn't work well with some softsynths.

Thanks for all the help! I think the problem was mainly my newness... In cubase you set a range (locators on the timeline) of what you want exported, is there something like that here? I had to delete everything after what I wanted to export. I guess this would keep my projects from getting so messy.

You make a time based selection by clicking & dragging in the timeline at the top of Track View BUT - you only really need to do this if you have extraneous material at the beginning/end of your project that you don't want included as part of your export. Like I said above, either select ALL or select NONE and your entire project will be exported. One final point, if you have any reverb tails at the end of your project it's a good idea to extend the length of one midi clip to encompass the tail, otherwise it might get truncated
