Trouble with X1 after factory resetting my laptop??

I recently reset my laptop to factory default, and upon reinstaling everything I am having MAJOR bugs. I'd say every other time I turn my computer on, sont won't even load. It doesn't give me a "not responding" prompt, it just doesn't do anything, and I end up having to restart the computer. When I do actually get it to start, none of the synths that are input from my mpd controller will respond to it or even play the notes that are already there during playback until I close and re open sonar again two or three times.there are lots of latency issues and my bigger plugins like omnisphere glitch up alot which they never did before the restore. How can I determine if this is a sonar problem or if something went wrong during the restore? Things have also been loading very slowly, omnisphere of course being the worst.  So I thought maybe there was a problem with my computers processing but it seems to only be in sonar so idk?

Assuming that everything was working before the "reset," you have to realize that the operating system and software environment is probably  pretty much obliterated by the reset. You do not say how you did it (or why), but typically on a laptop there is a hidden partition that contains an image of the software machine as it left the factory. Re-setting basically erases everything on the other partitions and then restores the image from that hidden partition. The same thing used to be accomplished by booting from a "restore" DVD.

In any case all of the OS and software updates, drivers, patches, bug fixes, tweaks etc. etc. that had been installed, and all of the elements that had been removed or replaced since you bough the machine are gone. In order to get back to the state at which the machine was working before the reset, you need to put all that stuff back, and in many cases it has to be done in the order in which it was done originally. For example if one patch is dependent on the existence of a previous patch, they have to be restored in order. Unless you have kept meticulous records since you bought the machine, that may be a very difficult task indeed.

Did you go back in and do all your Windows tweaks and setting changes in Sonar like you initially had to when you first got it installed?

we were responding at the same time slart,

Thats exactly what I was getting to

    Load X1, a, b, c, Expanded, d

You can look at the install instructions and it will tell you if it includes previous updates (ie  a will be included in b - etc...)

Then all the windows power settings, AV, killing stuff that starts up in the background, all the updates,  etc....

Dont forget about Drivers for controllers, interface, etc...

Ohhh  and dont forget to reboot it as needed and before launching X1

I apologize for not responding, I got into work. I understand all this you guys but I've done factory resets at least 4 times since using x1 and this has never happened. In the case I did a factory reset because I just wanted to start over fresh. Too many dll files had been accidentally moved around due to my neglegence, sample folders and other vital fileshad been misplaced and even removed due to viruses (I use he same computer for school multimedia social networking Boredom etc). Windows updates over time had installed things an made changes that I don't like, stuff like that. My computer to me was like a messy room and my workflow is easily impeded by unorganization. I just wanted to start fresh. That's just me. But anyways now that I mention it I've never even installed any of the x1 updates so I guess I'm not missing out there. My drivers are set an updated, all that good stuff. Like I said I've done this before and never ha this problem so I figured it could be the computer causing a problem. But everything else I do on the computer has been relatively seamless.

The only other thing I can think of is a recent Windows update caused allot of problems for users in the forum.

I JUST did a complete fresh install including the so called bad update but I dont use any midi controllers and havent seen any probs as of yet.  Knock on wood

You know that's a good point, everytime I reset it it would always have a ton of those updates. Maybe that's what caused it? Ill check it out. By the way does anybody know how x2 is doing? On windows 7 anyways?
