Troubleshooting recent crashes

I'm working on a project that ran fine, but is now crashing often.  I've inserted quite a few FX to clips over the last couple of days and I'm suspecting one of them is the culprit.
What's the best way to systematically troubleshoot this issue and find this rogue?

Thanks.

Have you tried opening the project in safe mode?

Would you recommend to disable all plugins, see how it runs, and then start enabling them one by one, or is there a better systematic approach to this?
Thanks, any advice would be appreciated.

What do you guys do when a project starts crashing on you (or, if like me you procrastinate and don't catch it right away)?

    Thanks as always.

    The event viewer.

Otherwise Yes, rule out plugin by plugin... but safe mode will probably rule out whether it is a plugin issue or not.
